Well I'm going to be getting into Carry optics in uspsa (rule is unlimited mag capacity 140mm length). Ordered me up a vortex viper 6 moa, originally wanted a venom but in 6 moa which isn't out yet. And a dovetail mount from Springer precision all for under 270$ USD (including mount+sight).

I just got a Vortex Venom (3moa) last week mounted with a OuterImpact univeral dovetail mount (awesome mount that works for all popular RDS only $40ish USD) on a non-MOS G17 and did a few hundred rounds last Sat. I will share a pic once I am home tonight.

I really wanted a rmr or docter but I wanted to do this experiment cheaply as possible for my Cz 75 sp-01 shadow custom. This way I won't be sitting on hundreds of dollar micro sight in case I preferred production division. I figured if I enjoy carry optics I'll get a dedicated pistol for that.

I have that set up on my 75B New Edition. The Springer divetail part needed some filling to fit. Other than that the mount and Optic works great. As soon as I get my $##$@%$ camera working again I will post some pictures.

What do you mean filing to fit? Like bottom of the dovetail mount? I'm trying to figure out if this is a task I can handle or should just pay a professional to do.

I would have a gunsmith mount it IF you try the fit and it is too tight.

I'm going to have my buddy mount it for me.
Should be ready to go for my next uspsa match. Full capacity magazines ftw. Will have 19+1 lol! Would be 21+1 but I don't want to spend 40$ per extension for 141.5 mm legal. I could do 20+1 but it would not be legal length for carry optics.

Here's my RDS experiment on a spare 226 slide. Would be much nicer with a milled out slide and supressor sights but it works for now.

Ah, to mill or not to mill, that is the question...
That's a nice fitting adapter though. Very often the adapters leave the RDS sitting high with huge gaps underneath like a giant boil on the slide!

My G17 is a "MOS" model (which stands for "Modular Optic System")—the slide is factory-machined to accept adapter plates that accommodate a number of compact optical sights. There are some gunsmiths that will machine a regular slide to accomplish the same thing if desired....I decided to go the factory route

I have a G17Gen3 which was milled for my RMR by Casey at Tactical Ordnance. He did a great job and it was quite affordable (IIRC $150 plus taxes and shipping).
