Congrats to all big and small...... I have thoroughly enjoyed yet another whitetail season..... I shot a small forkhorn on a last day dogging run last week at camp, sorry... no pics..... it was a scramble to get it dressed up to get to the butcher.....
This week has been a disaster...... I was back on my stand this week and sat my first watch Tuesday...... there is a bruiser cruising the does that has the spot all scraped up and appears on cam only at night...... plan was to wait for him to slip up..... and I saw plenty of spikes, forks and a 6 pointer I thought long and hard on......
Oh yeah, I had brought my 7-08 up to camp for a new hunter and even provided the ammo..... it's my "stand rifle" in that it is scoped as opposed to my 308 scout which has a red dot for dogging and recent hog hunts...... I took it out of the case in the dark Tuesday, loaded it up and made my way to the stand...... when the sun was fully up, I looked down only to find that the front ring was loose from the base and the scope was completely canted....... lesson learned...... may buy an axxis (yuck) to loan out, because this thing was completely solid and sighted in at 100 before the loan......
Regrouping and looking forward to black powder season...... a minute in the woods is worth 1000 behind a desk and I can't wait to get back out there!
