I am curious to see how many use their black rifle (obviously non-restricted) for hunting.

Whether varmint or big game please show us all.

My 10 year old son with a rabbit he shot using an NEA 22lr, Oceania Defence Suppressor and Lucid HD7

This is from a coupme of years back I would have to dig out those from the past 2 years.

Thank you! That was dear number 2 of the 4 one I shot with my rfb, fun fact all were in the first day of hunting.

I am so jealous that you shot 4 deers in one day (lol).

Aside from joking what's your thought on using a bullpup (specifically the rfb) vs a conventional hunting rifle (semi or not)?

Well in all honesty I don't have much experience with bolt gun hunting. It was 4 deer in 3 season, it's like driving a mini cooper downtown Toronto compare to driving a f-350 4 doors long box downtown; sometimes it doesn't make much difference others its a world apparte like mounting and dismounting a vehicle, walking in the bush. Also a big difference is in aiming, last hunting season I was out of shape and I found that hunting with a mini 14 after 30 seconds aiming down the scope my aim was all around compare to wen I was hunting with my rfb I basically had unlimited aim time as the weight is so close to the body.

On the semi auto side, well its all a question of philosophy . How much do you value a second and third shot? Do you hunt in a stand were you get clear shot and you rarely miss? Or do you walk the woods and sometimes stir up a deer that takes of running? Do you value the opportunity to harvest a deer while you are driving to or from your hunting spot?

The last deer I took we were driving back from the hunt on the first day and it was 5 minutes before case time, we stop to case the guns. As I wasn't driving I case my rfb, left it on the top of the other rifle and let the mag on the dash. We drove about 75 meters and after a turn there was a deer that cross the road, my dad stop and urge me to grab my gun. The young buck stop on the top of a hill in a clearing, it didn't take 15 seconds I was aiming at him. but it was almost dark, good thing I had my burris e1 as it was gathering more light then my eyes, I shot him and he fell down. After 2 second I lowered the gun then a total of 5 second after he fell down he got up and ran (jump) away. Wen he landed from his second jump I shot and missed but wen he jumped for the third time I caught him just a little bit back of the lunges area. We found him 30 minutes later with flashlights about 50 meters away. Turns out wen I first shot him I broke one of his rear legs as he was ether stairing at us or was walking away from us.

Lets just say if I was hunting with a bolt action there is no way in hell I would have ben able to ketch that deer!

to the guys shooting deer, what bullet are you using? I am working up loads with the sierra 60gr HP (gameking) and some Hornady GMX in 55gr. Are you guys reloading, or shooting factory?

I don't have first hands experience but I am contemplating using my T97 on deer this fall and after some research many has good results using Barnes TSX.

Seen some videos on Youtube 55 gr on deer is devastating and still debating should I try a bullpup or not hence my questions to the above.

I know 223 might not be the best deer caliber (I have bolt guns in 7mm RM and a 375 ouch & ouch) but it has proven it will work and as a gun nutz like many of you I wanna try something new :)

Thanks rally guy,

That's exactly what I need to know and to each of their own I am a lazy guy prefer to pack / carry as little weight as possible and my hunting style includes little bit of everything you mentioned ( quad riding, bit of a hiking to the spot etc) and been seriously looking at bullpup for this purpose.

Seems like the RFB seems to be the black rifle of choice in this thread for game... :D

I got my tags for black bear for the spring season. I'll be using my RFB for it. I'll be putting together some hot load TSX rounds for it. Going for a lighter bullet at a high velocity. 130 grain at 3000 fps. I'll get some picks if I manage to bag one.
