Here is a couple of 44 magnums i just bought.

Have to say I like them both for different reasons. I find the stainless easier to shoot, the grip suits me better. The older blued one hurts the hand a little.

I think the older blued one is ###y looking though, love the look of those wood grips, totally dirty harry look. I have to say the trigger on the old one is finer as well, on single action.

The blued one is a 29-3 with 6 inch barrel. Made in 1984

The stainless is a 629-6 with 5 inch barrel. Made in 2003 approx.

Here are a few not so great shots, i need a better camera.

.44 Magnum from a wheelgun.....

After a lengthy sabbatical from the .44 Mag I recently acquired a nice 1964 vintage Model 29 myself with the 6 1/2" pinned barrel. Made up some light target loads for 'er in the past couple weeks..... 240 gr LSWC's going out at 800-900 fps. Talk about a fun gun to shoot....

BTW, nice guns..... :)

I think you may have another fetish as well;)

Don't know if those are 44's or 38's?

Always look forward to your posts, some day I might get around to reading them:redface:

I`ve got a 6" 29 as well. Bought it quite a few years ago after watching a Dirty Harry marathon. I just had it out the other day...and I realized that 300grain SWCs ahead of 17 or so grains of 2400 are not nearly as much fun as I once thought they were. Much lighter loads are much more enjoyable...Inspector Callaghan was absolutely correct.

Oh, and like you, a good friend of mine also appreciates a good Sonnet.

My custom 5" 29-3 that I bought from Armco is my favourite wheelgun:

I also have a four-screw Model 29 (no dash number) with a 6-1/2" barrel:

I like 29's/629's. So much so that I have four of them (at the moment, I've had others in the past). A nickeled 4" 29-2, a blued 4" 29-2, a blued 6.5" 29-2, and a 3" snubby 629. Fun guns. For heavy 44 mag loads I use either my Dan Wesson or my Ruger, both stronger revolvers then the S&W's. - dan

Since we are doing gratuitous Model 29 pics.....

I prefer the Pachmayr's for shooting, though....

And I like a good Sonnet too..... 'how do I love thee, let me count the ways'..... :p
