Not cheap down there either, and then add the import fee.
That depends. 2 grand NIB + 150$ import fee + taxes + shipping + brokerage. Beats some of the crazy prices up here.

Hmmm, I wonder what the Kuwaiti Police did with all of theirs - they had to buy a full set of new ones after the first Gulf War, since the Iraqi's took theirs home with them. The Python was their issue revolver.
PS my python isn't a Colt, and isn't a revolver and I don't own a single photo of it - pretty sure the wife doesn't either and even if I did, I wouldn't show it here. (someone had to say it)
NIB for $2000?? I must be looking in all the wrong places. Been a while since I've seen them at that price.
Also if you're willing to pay the premium for NIB or used boxed models there's a new door open to collecting that you have to be able to recognize, authentic matching boxes. It's profitable in the US to sell top condition Pythons with non matching boxes and paperwork these days. Do your homework if you're going to go this route.
Any NIB model or used with box model I look at needs the matching box for the expected premium. Perhaps the $2000 models you're looking at are the ones with non-matching or unprovable (torn off end labels, etc) boxes?
This is my second as I foolishly sold the first one I had that was in Colt Royal Blue. This one is an earlier production model, 1957. Main differences being the grips and checkering, the front sight and the area on either side of the rear sight.

The other main differance is that your '57 has a hollow underlug. You can tell by swinging out the cylinder and looking down the tube.
ps I heard someone once filled the tube with mercury and sealed it but that may be a myth

don't feel bad, I just learned that one too. So I also just went and checked my Snakes and sure enough, the Blue one is hollow! Now about that Moooose .....
*** I posted this in the "Show you revolver forum...then I found the Python thread"
Here is my very first and only revolver. It was an anniversary present from my wife. Just picked it up a couple of weeks ago! It's a beauty...looks waaaay better in person. Please excuse the crappy photography! It came with a nylon holster, a leather holster, the original box (although it's slightly trashed) and a crap load of ammo.

The Python has been one of two revolvers I've ever wanted to own! Next one is a Colt Single Action Army!
