Lucky one ! Where did you get the barrel ?

.

Locally after a lot of inquiries through contacts. Got the cap from Gravel... sure wish they’d sell more of the stuff in their LEO only catalog. I may clone the 14” barrel because I don’t expect to find that.

Did you know that a Tac-14 has built in rifle sights .... :D

She connected yesterday .... at 50 meters/yards ....

There's mine. Built it off of a plain 500. Looking back through my emails the short barrel kit cost me $281 shipped in 2017, and the Raptor handle was like $40 us in 2015. 26.5" OAL, great bush gun.

The handle and short barrel kit even fits on my Maverick pump, if you're looking to build one cheaper.

My triple threat now has company, a Wilson WP870. A rare bird, this one is a 1991, it may be the only one in Canada.

"The barrels on the original marshals guns were simply cut to 14.5 inches with little thought or testing given to patterns and performance. Wilson made several changes to the original WP870 design, with the most notable changes being to the barrel. Wilson thought the 14.5-inch barrel was longer than needed and cut the barrel to 12.5 inches, just even with the magazine cap. Wilson wanted to improve the performance of his gun and installed a modified WinChoke to tighten up the patterning. The barrel retained a factory bead sight. As with the original design, the grip is manufactured from the original stock and is rounded to a bird’s head configuration. As with any combat shotgun, the shotgun was given a shorter forend to allow access to the loading port while the slide is in the rearward position."

McCoy "hold my beer."

He's full of wonderful surprises though. Mind you, this could have even come from his stable. I've been here too long.

Nope ! Mine still in my safe. 1980s vintage and in mint condition, but his doesn't have the same size bird head grip, look longer than mine, original ?

Now there is two ;o)

I agree, I dont like the shape of my bird head grip. I researched old pictures and yours looks more accurate. That said they were cut down from the original stock so there could have been variations. Maybe mine never head had a bird head grip, some came full stock, who knows? Can you post a picture of the bolt hole side of the grip ? Does yours have a choke ?

Mine came with an extra full Winchoke.
Could you post a close up picture of the markings under the ejector port ?

Does your front sling plate has these markings ?

I am at work so I can take pictures when I get home. In the interim can I see a picture of the bolt side of the pistol grip, I have a theory what the bolt hole looks like. Mine came with a extra winchoke and has the correct installation on the barrel. Mine is a 1991, what year is yours? A lot of the fakes are the wrong year and wrong model. The ejection port markings look the same, mine is not in the blue (either) so we have a match there. That said some came parkerized so not sure if those were in the blue or not. I researched mine and it is good, the wood on the other hand is a question mark. The previous owner said it is the wood that came separately with the shotgun. It had full wood on it to import into Canada. The fact that the wood was refinished is a flag for me and the shape bothers me but I am not 100%. The strap came with all short versions which is why I think this might have been a full wood version (or plastic). Do you have the strap ?

You bought it from the Guy in L'Assomption Quebec ?

Mine was made in 84, the Wilson arms Co. went bankrupt at some point, late 80s or early 90s not sure.
Yes i do have the strap.

My gun was imported as is exactly like you see in the picture.

Will post a pic of the screw hole later.

My WP870 is bright blue but i also have a Scattergun Tech one which is parkerized, here's a picture of both.

My gun is a 870 Magnum receiver and not a Police Magnum, Police Magnum marked receiver didn't exist in 1984.

I just spoke to Jim Wilson, I am going to send email him pictures of mine along with the SN to check if mine is legit. He said there are alot of knock offs, also said there were no blued versions with marking below the ejection port (to his knowledge) so he wants to see the font. Is yours blued as well ? I am getting a bad feeling but we will shall see.

Could you please ask him to come to CGN and tell us what he think about these shotguns?

I will gladly send him the serial numbers if he wants.

If what you say it's true, it means that the WP870 shotgun depicted and pictured in this article is also fake because it's exactly like mine.

I just emailed Jim my information, honestly I think yours looks good. Mine not so much. He said he knows a fellow in law enforcement and he can pick them off just by looking at the engraving.

I'll see what he has to say. He did say they never sold them with spare chokes because they did not want anyone messing with them. Jay

Tell him to come see the pictures on CGN, if mine is fake i sure would like to know, and it would be interesting since we could ask him a few questions about these shotguns.
