I have a chance to buy a Sig 220 or a Sig 226 in 9mm. I can not make up my mind on each one. Any ideas ? Thanks.

I am thinking of Sig 220 because I have smaller hands. I can buy Sig 226 anytime and Sig is not making 220 in 9mm anymore. Am I right ?

my sig220 euro (9mm) is 9 round capacity, but good luck finding magazines for them! But highly recommeded

but, in my opinion, buy both..

why do people keep asking which guns to buy.. the answer is always one of each!

Yes you are correct. The difference between 8-9 shots and 10 shots is negligible.

Buy the one that feels best. They are both quality guns.

I would say buy the sig 220 in 9mm unless you want to compete with it. BTW what mag relese does it have? Your right about how you can always buy a sig 226 later on down the road. Just don't get ripped off, These things were selling for 500-600 in stores a wile back.

Really? It seems the prices go up every day! I see used ones now still for 1200!

I got a 220 and love it if that's any consoldation lol

Interesting comment about the 226 having a 10 round mag. I just got my 226 9mm recently and am waiting to get my long term att so I can get out and shoot it. I know it is suppose to have a 10 round mag but I'll be damned if I can get more than 9 in each mag it came with. Am I doing something wrong? I'm not a weakling but this is my first handgun so I have to ask the question. Neither mag seems to be able to take a 10th round. I have tried on a few occasions now and had the same result... 9 rounds only.

Help

Go for the 226, the mags are cheaper and easier to find. the 220 grip is slimmer, but a bit longer, it does allow you to get a good grip.

If you get a 226 in .40cal, then you can buy a 9mm barrel for it ($200) and have a 3 calibre gun.

Also consider the 226ST, a very nice gun

I guess I should clarify that I was talking about sig 220's that were former 38supers(I think), converted to 9X19mm. Most of them had the heel mag relese, and were sold for around 500-600 in stores. I have a 226 in .40, some day I hope to pick up one of the 2209mms with the heal relese.

Its true that mags are hard to find and expensive in canada. But there are places I belive that sell them for not a bad price in the USA.

DE44 its a common problem... I realy wish we could use the real sig mags that these guns are intended to have, and not these lawyer proof '10' rd mags. And when you do get the last rd in, good luck seating it in the gun with the slide closed. Take a look at how the mag is made, you should be able to figgure out how to remedy it.

Mag springs are stiff when they are new. Try loading all 10 rounds and leaving it for a few days and it will get better. But generally you will find that through use the mags get easier to load. 10 round Glock mags are a pain in the ass when new, but after a while they are ok...

Colin, Colin, always trying to hard sell teh 226ST! :p I've had shot both, but the 220 in 9mm is what I went with, simply because it fit my hands better and because of it I get better groups. But that doesn't keep my from buying a 226 in the future. :D My name is Justin and I'm a Sigaholic!

Actually if i could, I would own around 6-10 different Sigs. Any Sig is better than no Sig!
