SIg 9mm - 40 or 45 ???Decisions decisions..

Ok .im in a bit of a dilemma, decided on the manufacturer but would like some feedback. Was looking at a 9mm, although some poeple are saying accuracy my be somewhat lacking(at a distance)..some say go to a 45....Then there is the 40...
I am looking to reload my own so Im thinking that cost difference shouldnt be that much...
Suggestions?
 
I've got mine in .40 cal, but if you're up for reloading and just shooting at paper, just go cheap and get one in 9mm. Not like you'll have to use it for its intended purpose anyway. ;)
 
so far the 9mm is the leader..why ? because the rounds are cheap? what is the accuracy like at distance between the weapons listed? Isnt bigger better? :mrgreen:

.40 would be the least accurate IMO it's also has the snappiest recoil.

.45 might be a little more accurate (note might) but cost a bit more than 9mm.
 
I doubt you would see any difference in accuracy across the range. Like others said, 9mm is a good starting point because the ammo is cheap. However, depending on what you're looking for in a pistol, you might find .40 and .45 more "fun to shoot". Also, if you're going get a Sig, I would HIGHLY recommend getting the all-stainless version, as it is a big improvement over the regular aluminum-framed gun IMO.

My main criticism of aluminum (black) Sigs is that the quality of the finish is really not that great for a $1200 gun. The anodized frame scratches easily, and the Nitron slide finish is not as durable as Glock's Tenifer or HK's "Hostile Environment". Stainless steel solves the problem nicely. Not to mention, stainless Sigs look damn hot 8).

And with regards to your "plastic guns" comment, guess what the slide rails on those are made of? Steel. The same cannot be said of the slide rails on your Buritto :wink:
 
If you plan to reload ammunition, go with .45ACP.

If you don't, and just want to put holes in paper, go 9mm (inexpensive ammo readily available).

If you need the "extra power" for either one of the gun games, or for fear of zombie attacks, go with .40S&W.

I like the size of .45ACP holes in the paper... Don't need the binos to read targets from 25m!

Right, My Sig226R 40cal is plenty accurate, and I dont find its snappy to fire. I find 9mm more snappy then 40cal. Becuase with 40cal, you can download the loads. To the point recoil is WAY less.

I didn't say it wasn't accurate I just think it's less accurate than other calibres...

OK well why can't you load mild 9mm loads :? My point was factory .40 recoils sharper than factory 9mm...

Capp325 If you hear of anyone having problems with the alloy flame rails on their Beretta let me know :wink:
 
.45 too expensive to reload? $60-$90 for a box of bullets, $25-$30 for a box of primers and $20-$25 for a can of powder. Now prividing you already have some brass, not much more then 9mm. If you want to buy some ammo look at Marstar, there is not a huge differance in the price of the two. But my opinion, go with the 9mm.
