SIG civilian MPX

I think we need the pistol version first. It comes with 10 round mags. Once approved we should look to add the rifle/carbine version ( which is not available in US).

Pls no bickering.i live in Toronto and I can only shhoot my nearest range 1.5 hr drive.

I'm not sure how this thread has been copied from the original posting elsewhere on CGN, but I'm glad it has.

As the only authorized and approved importer of Sig Sauer product, we are solely responsible for the import of the MPX. No one else is able to start this process.

To obtain an FRT for this firearm, we have to import two: one select fire, and one semi-auto. These rifles have to be paid for and imported by us, then sent to the RCMP Tech lab for 12-36 months.

As a side note, for all of those individuals that believe they are 'getting screwed' by the Canadian firearms industry, keep in mind what goes into the importation and distribution of the firearms we all enjoy.

do want

unfortunately we're probably, what, a year or 2 from having an FRT approved/denied ??

Most likely.

Would 10rd mags be a possibility for the MPX, since there will be a pistol model?

Possibly; we are in discussion with Lancer (the mag producer) to alter the current production process, and change the mold to mark the mags "10 rd for pistol only". This is a complicated process, as they will have a minimum order requirement, and Canada is the only market for the finished product.

At best it's gonna be classed as an AR-15 variant (in my opinion).

This would be a great win, as you will all have the chance to purchase one if we get a for sure on the restricted status.

On what factual basis have you formed this opinion?

The Fire Control Group is very AR inspired, as is the takedowm of the upper and lower.

The "wire" stock is extremely robust. It also has no sharp edges, so I anticipate it will be tons of fun to shoot.

It is...

I had no idea that you are the authorized importer of sig products.

I hope you have started the process. I would live to have my hands on these. When do I pay?

Curious... what happens to the select fire model after the RCMP has done all of their homework / review process? do you guys get to play with it at least?

Just wondering how far into the process you are? Have you obtained or ordered the FRT copies yet?

Can't...wait to have one here!

Edit: Another question (open question) - Are we allowed to chop off the "compensator" if that is the model that gets approved here? I love the gun, but really have no desire to put a fake can on the end of it.

We have. The full auto is even better in person...

We will keep both rifles for demo purposes (FA only for MIL/LE).

But they don't need to have (pistol use only written on them) and for plastic injection molding that might mean a new mold.

You are correct; we cannot simply submit a 10 round mag that does not specifically sate for pistol only.

If it's up to MD Charlton, to bring in and submit samples
Forget it, we're screwed. The lab will never see samples.

Care to elaborate? You seem to have a great handle on our business. BTW, I fixed your misuse of were for we're.

Any idea on sig 556xi? What is the status of that rifle?

Unfortunately, this is a 'variant' of the 550, and prohibited.

MDC

so I came across the sig mpx-c model which is just awesome, it basically has a suppressor looking type of muzzle brake built in the carbine, its still only considered a muzzle break until some sort of Can/shroud is slipped on over. I really hope these come to Canada soon.

If Sig Sauer manufactures a magazine that is designed for BOTH a pistol AND a semi-automatic rifle, then I would expect the RCMP lab to rule that they all have to be pinned to 5 rounds. If an after-market company designed a magazine for JUST the pistol, then I would expect that one to be allowed to be 10 rounds.
