sig mosquito updates please

Tried out two Mosquitos at the range today. Had lots of FTF - owner said I was absorbing the recoil, try shooting with stiffer wrist - it worked. Must be cleaned after 250 rounds. Like the look, feel, weight, recoil, trigger. Gotta have one.:D

Still curious about my unanswered question above. Have any of the other Mosquito owners bothered to look at their gun and see where it was made?

Mine's made in Germany

Just got my revised made in Deutschland Mosquito yesterday and took it to the range this afternoon. Put 100 rnds of CCI mini mags through it, followed by 250 rnds of Rem. Thunderbolts and then 50 rnds of Quick-Shok.

I had 3 failures. I got two within as many mags when I went to the light spring with the Thunderbolts. The slide didn't completely return to battery. The problem disappeared when I went back to the big on.

And the third failure smunched the casing of the last Quick-Shok in the mag while feeding. The round was sticking stright up and got t-boned. I ran a couple cycles of mags through with only two rounds loaded to see if it was related to the last couple rounds in the mag with no more problems. This may have been a magazing loading error on my part but I can't be certain yet.

So far I think this gun is awesome. Feels great, looks great, shoots as precisely as I need a ~$480 .22 pistol to shoot. I might have to buy one of his big brothers.

went out again today with my mosquito and am liking it alot now.the gun seems to be breaking in nicely now with close to a thousand rounds through it.

used a box of federal champion in the bulk pack from can tire and found it to work well.nice to know i don't need to buy mini mags all the time.

the ftf's i had today all indicated i needed to clean it[ approx 200 rounds]

irregardless of whats been written about this pistol, i really like it.
the slide retainer is worked in nice and is easy to lock and unlock now.

it may still be ammo fussy, but the ftfs' are definitely on the decline.

I own both a sig mosquito sport and hunter mk3. The new generation of mosquitos seem to work out after 500 rounds or so and a change to the weaker spring for target rounds not "working ammunition".

I'm still not as accurate with the sig as I am with the mk3. The trigger is heavy and doesn't break crisply. If anyone is deciding which .22 pistol to get, and wants accuracy out of the box, ruger mk2 or mk3 is 100% the way to go.

I've used cci blaser, federal copper wash high velocity, cci mini mags, and golden bullets in both sig and ruger .22's with much success. Not one ftf or fte with mk3 but in cold weather the sig has roughly 5-10% ftf.

You can shoot through most sig mosquito ftf without racking the slide as it is double action and works most of the time on a DA pull after ftf.

I've found leaving my .22 ammo in the car while shooting keeps the brass from stiffening up in the cold and reduces ftfs greatly in all .22s in cold weather.

I was going to buy a mosquito last month, for the looks, price, and SIG name, I thought I couldnt go wrong, but as always I started to do research. I found an ABUNDANCE of negitive reviews and experiances almost all having to with being too picky with ammunition, and even with recommended ammunition there were still many missfires. In my opinion even with the price, in light of these reviews it seems not to be worth the frustration. However could have been older production models... not sure, still not worth it.

My bit of net research shows that the Walther P22 and it's zinc slide aren't worth the grief; the Sig Mosquito and it's finickiness about what it'll eat will drive you nuts, and the Ruger Mk.3 isn't half the handgun that the Mk.1 and 2 are.
To be fair, I've never fired any of those but the Mk.1 I own. I have recently held the Ruger Mk3 22/45, and absolutely hated the skinny, squared off grip. Just awful. In contrast, the Beretta Neos that looks like something from Buck Rogers felt great in the hand; enough so that I would seriously consider getting one in spite of it's swoopy looks. However, I still have to do some research on them to see what issues owners have with them.
