sig mosquito updates please

I have known about the good reports on both Browning Buckmarks & Rugers. was just hoping the Sig fixed the problems but it sound like they didn't. The Mosquito is a very ###y looking gun, I used to own a P226 which was a very nice item just can't believe Sig lost on this one.

I really wanted the Mosquito because they look so damn cool, but when I did my research the performance was spotty at best. There is a lot of information on AR15.com about them too.

When half the people are saying they are junk and the other half say; “it hasn’t broken yet” it’s not a good sign.

Bottom line: Sig does not equal Sig Arms.

I have seen Ruger MKIIs run like trains on the range for thousands of rounds. – Parts can be had very readily aswell.

I own a 22/45 because I don’t like guns that don’t work as they should. That being said, not all Rugers are built the same; I had teething problems with my P345 (the only pistol I’ve ever had problems with because I’ve always bought Beretta.) :) (Shameless Beretta plug)

I want that short barrel hunter, but with the stainless steel frame wonder if its availible?

I also can't belive that sig arms put out such a crappy product... I guess there like most of the other gun companies out there.... just trying to sell something by name. Also some s&w .22 autoloaders are real gems lol(sarcastic)

Is it too much to ask for a reliable, inexpensive .22LR semi-auto pistol that looks like a centerfire and doesn't jam every 3rd shot? Seems the nicer looking ones (Sig Mosquito, Walther P22) are unreliable, and the reliable ones (Ruger MKII/III) are not too much to look at IMO...and Kimber makes a nice .22 for about the price of a new P220 stainless.

Why the hell do so many .22 pistols look like doorstoppers?

You might want to consider CZ-75 Cadet.

I heard the Kadet had some issues as well and was ammo picky.

its a .22 who cares what it looks like as long as its a reliable training tool. I dont shoot mine much anymore, but its great to have for taking new people to the range.

If the Sig was better I would buy one. But meanwhile Ill stick with Ruger. Cheap, solid and accurate.

I paid alittle less than $400 for my stainless 5 inch 22/45,

Around a thousand rounds through and the only issues were with subsonic rounds and some elcheepo ammo. Maybe changing the spring might have helped in those situations, but like I said I'm happy with my kids mosquito.

Mine is still a POS. Makes a great single shot pistol though... just sucks as a semi-auto. Got one more brand of ammo to try in it, Stingers don't work and extracting a Stinger case without the case head is a pain in the ass. If the vaunted Mini-Mags don't work I am done with it.

Got my mosquito 2 weeks ago and fired about 2000 rds so far. I noticed some feeding problems for the firs two rds each time i get around 250 rds. If i take a few minutes to wipe the slide and luricate just a bit it's then good for another 250rds. The rear sight is adjustable for windage but not elevation. It come with 3 different front sight. one too low, one to high and one much to high I'm looking for a fully adjustable sight to put on it.
I've so far fired about 1,500 rds with american eagle and 525 with federal champion. Both worked great.

I like it much better than the walther

the mini mags should do the trick, they're the ones that feed reliably with mine.other high velocity rounds like winchester weren't as reliable.

I have had mine out three times now. One jam on the first outing with a few hundred rounds through it. No jams on the second outing and one on the third. I am only using the Remington Golden Bullets in the bulk boxes. Not really high velocity but that is what the box says. I have not tried the other slide spring yet or any other ammo. I am pretty happy with it so far.

I have a question for some of the other Mosquito owners. In an old post I remember the discussion of who makes the Sig Mosquito. Here is the thread:
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73611&highlight=mosquito
Now my questions are who owns one of these guns? Mine certainly says that it is manufactured in Germany by Sig Sauer and not in the US or anywhere else by Sig Arms. Are the Sig Arms ones different in some way? Are the Sig Arms ones simply an earlier version? Is this possibly the cause of the quality issues that some people are having with their pistols?

I loved my Mosquito, but I wanted another centerfire pistol and the gun-fund was pretty near empty so I had to let it go. I will definately consider buying another one when my boys get a little older.

sorry to get off of the mosquito topic again But I can't find the short barrel 22/45 hunter pictured in 9's post on rugers website. Does anyone have any links to dealers that are carrying it or any other links to it?
