I finally got to shoot my P210-2 tonight for the first time........ Don't know what to say except I now understand what all the fuss is about.

Jeez I love this gun! :d:d:d

Nice. I know what you mean. I felt the same way the first time I pick one up and racked the slide.

I like SIGs, and I like classic 9mm pistols, but for some reason the P210 leaves me cold, despite me never even seeing one, let alone shooting one. Maybe I should give one a chance sometime!:) I finally picked up an H&K P7 last year and finally realized why everyone likes that one so much.

Funny you should say that....a P7 is on my list. ;)

As to the P210, I really like the looks so that may have contributed to how much I liked shooting the gun. (as in I was willing to be impressed)

OTOH, I managed to put a lot of my rounds into the same ragged hole and I'm not a particularly good shot. The gun is very soft shooting with little recoil and just feels right in your hand.

There's one on the EE for $12,000 better hurry before it gets snapped up.

I saw that.....it's one of those "700th anniversary of Swiss confederation" special edition models. I am always suspicious of that sort of thing. Special editions seem somewhat contrived to me....a rather cynical marketing dept attempt to artificially create an instant 'collectible".

Totally agree. From what I've observed many don't even end up commanding a premium. I think they appeal to the same niche market that collects fantasy knives.

CZ seems especially bad for this. They seem to have a special edition collector's model CZ75 for every conceivable occasion.

I also remember Browning doing a 75th anniversary Hi Power in 2010. From what I've read on US forums they sat on dealer's shelves until they were deeply discounted to clear. They show up for sale once and a while but are far less desirable than real collectible BHP's like T series, pre-war, occupation, Inglis etc

I don't know if it's a sort of Baroque German style thing but I've always found the fancy special edition Sigs to be far too garish for my taste...... Not what I would consider to be tasteful or classic looking.

It's strange too because German cars are just the opposite with interiors that are usually understated and subdued. We have a Mercedes ML and a BMW 328, neither of which I would consider flashy or loud in terms of styling compared to their American or Japanese competition.

Maybe those guns are aimed at what Sig considers to be American tastes?

I can't speak to the CZ's but that 75th BHP was atrocious; they ruined a great gun by adding garbage engraving. If they had made a mk1 repro I'm sure they would have sold quickly. The only company I can think of that does special editions well is Colt, the WWI Carbonia Blue for instance.

P210's are great. Glad you like it.

Congrats! You now own and shot the finest service pistol in the world.

I couldn't agree more! There is a big garish trophy of a cap-and-ball revolver mounted at a rakish angle for the Montreal Swiss Rifle Club with my name on it. About 1988 or 89, I fired a possible with a stock holster grade P210 and that beat all the Swiss shooters to their great frustration.

As for commemorative editions, the Swiss are a modest people not prone to bragging or ornamentation. They recently came through their 700th anniversary. If the commemorative is from the factory, you can bet it is a very limited or special edition.
