Sig P226 - is there another gun?

Personally, I'd have shot the pistol first before putting on that Hogue abortion the grip...
What's wrong with the grip that you felt a need to put the Hogue slipon on the gun?
+1
IMO it makes the gun ugly :?

Well Beretta man, I'm not sure you are qualified to ask a Sig question, lol, but I got the wrap around so I could start dry firing and getting the gun and my hand to work together immediately. I am home bound for anothe few weeks, so anything to work with the gun right now, since I have a full Houge with finger grooves on order.
So don't worry soon the gun may even be pretty enough for you. But then if you bought a beretta, may your vision needs checking lol

Anyone tried a Sidearmor holster for this gun? It sounds good for IPSC with the option for a quick draw cut, and adjustable tensioner. I guess that means you can adjust tension to suit the rules of level 2 retention, or whatever other competition.
Or....are there other brands that serve the same purpose just as well?

Well, it has been 4 months since I bought "the only gun there is", and FN, the Canadian importer with a monopoly, still has it for repair. I have learned that they are notorious for poor service, and they handle HK as well, so we are kinda screwed in Canada. The dealer is willing to let me change guns, since it was never fired, and I am looking at a Kimber for around the same price. Wish we could get rid of these guys.

The pin broke that sits in the slide about 3/4 back. Right side protruded and left side staye in place (broken). FN says waiting for part.

Anyway Italian SG is will keep it when it gets back and I will pick up an HK USP45 tomorrow instead.

That's really unusual....are you sure your P226 was new and not a refurbished gun? If your gun was unfired as you say, the broken pin should have been apparent right from the get-go.
It sounds like ISG is taking care of it....are you getting the USP instead of the SIG?

We have lots of the pins in stock. So it shouldn't be taking any time at all to get fixed. Also, that is hardly a major repair, it amounts to a broken retaining pin ($2 part) and 1 minute fix. Sorry you can't get service out of FN Sports, but in the futur you can try us for fast SIG repairs.

Yeah I would just get the pin from a store and replace it, 4 months+ wait is a waste of time. Imagine how many rounds you'll be going through with that already for paying a few bucks and get instructions online for a quick DIY.

Yes, I have had the registration done, just waiting for gov't to complete it, then I will pick up my USP45. First time shooting a 45 so I guess I should start with wimpy loads. They gave me some 230 JHP, 880fps. Is that a really hot round? I don't know much about 45's.

Thanks, maybe I will. How much do you guys sell 45 brass and bullets for. I may go back to reloading if I can save on 45 ammo.

A curious deafening silence from our SIG worshippers here....:p

avsecb2: Not being an ass here....but you should really get out to the range and talk to other hand-gunners. It looks to me like you desperately want to get into pistol ownership, but have been beguiled by talk of SIG's and HK's, neither of which may be what you'll really be happy with. You've now got yourself a .45ACP which is not really a great cartridge to start off shooting a pistol with, regardless of the much-vaunted USP vehicle that's launching it.
Often, the last people to get advice from for a first pistol is the guy behind the counter at a gunshop. He's honour-bound to sell you what he has in-stock, in the gun display case.
I'm really concerned that the guy at ISG sold you a box of 230gr JHP's.....No, they're not a "hot round" and probably don't even expand at that velocity. They're way too expensive and totally unnecessary for target shooting, particularly for a "newbie". Shame on them. They may not even feed well in your USP, and combined with your lack of experience, may well result in a very miserable first visit to the range.
My advice, quite frankly, is to go shopping someplace else. ;)

then he'll wish he had a real gun, a SIG ;)

Considering we sell refurbed SIGs for $750 and new ones starting at $999, I really don't think Sigs are as overpriced as people make them out to be.
