I was at a range the other day in the US, they had a P226 that I rented, the serial number was U359###, which places it around 1988, it also had the Herndon, VA, import marking on it. So we're talking a 17-year old pistol.
Best score I got was 93-3X, ten shots at 25 yards with PMC 115gr. FMJ on an NRA B-8 25 yard rapid fire bullseye. And this was after I had put 180 rounds through it already, and it was filthy dirty and very hot from doing rapid fire drills with it. (And bear in mind I don't get to use pistols very often).
I spoke to the staff, the gun had been there longer than any of them, and the person working there the longest had been there more than four years, and this was a large commercial shooting range.
So I don't know that the gun has been there for 17 years, but it's certainly been going for a long time.
Impressive, I thought.
