Sig P229 anyone?

I just went over there at lunch and handled the "Equinox" version...Beautiful! :) They have others, just aren't out on display yet.

The barrel is extended very little...they look great!
 
So is P&D the only place in Canada which will have stock?

I am always intrigued by how certain shops seem to get smoking inventory every once in awhile (and no one else).

If you walked into P&D and saw what they stock you would see why. Dealers who stock more get first pick and better prices from distributers. they have a better selection of pistols, black rifles, JHP ammo then 95% of the guns shops I have visited in the states.
 
I got off the phone with them earlier, with a 229R ordered, of course, and discovered that much to my schagrin, this might be their only shipment, as they had enough trouble getting it as it was. I asked about availability of an Elite, for instance, and was told "not at this time, no."

Ohwells. I'll take a 229R and be happy about it. I had begun the process of locating/purchasing a 229 stateside for questar to bring it in, but four weeks for a Barsto barrel, then to find someone to install it (As Questar won't), then wait for them to bring it in, then pay all the bills, it was just too much trouble.

This is perfect, though.

I just bought a SIG P229 SAS, apparently I was the 3rd caller this morning (and they hadn't even opened yet) :rockOn:


Ugh...
Now I need to sell stuff :p


P.S. I already got confirmation that these pistols are IPSC Production OK'd since the barrels are from the factory :)
 
Just got mine today but not at P&D.

Al Simmons in Hamilton has a few as well. Selling very nicely and only a few left. They only have the Standard 229R left now, but as a bonus they all have night sights.
Traded in a couple of items to get the price down. Jeeze I hate when new stuff comes into the country, my pocket book suddenly looks thinner.

what was the price?
 
I just called Al Simmons Gunshop. They advise that thay are one of only three distributors in Canada who will be gettng these guns (I guess P&D and Questar are the other two.)

Their price is $1,195.00. They are all .40 cal. The 9mm guns are coming and will apparently be in at some unknown point in the near future.

Our shipment of SIG P229's is also on the way, and we are getting the standard model as well as SAS & Equinox versions.

what are your prices?
 
When my transfer comes through I'll post picks of my new SIG229 right along side my issued 229 to compare the differences, which are slight, my issued one being made in Europe as I recently found out.

Should be 2-3 weeks, so I hope you can wait that long.
 
Can't see the point to the P229 in 9mm, never have, bulkier and heavier than the P228. The P229 makes more sense than the P226 in .40 S&W and .357 SIG, IMO, the grip is much nicer and they have the same mag capacity (regardless of where you live). The P229 slide is wider and shorter than the P226 slide.

However, the flip side is that you can get the P226 with the stainless frame. TSE have got a P229 Sport in stock, but it's just a bit too heavy for my liking with the stainless barrel and compensator on it.
 
As far as I know the 229 was originally designed for the .40 S&W unlike most such as the 226 and 228 that started with the 9mm.
The SIG 229 is pretty good for concealed carry, and it's what I prefer, with 12 +1 rounds. Most still like the 239 even though it only has eight rounds. You hardly know it's there.
228 is'nt my cup of tea, can't really say why, perhaps I've trained to much on the 229 and I'm biased towards that.

All though the 9mm is a perfectly servicable round, the forty is a nice balance between capacity and larger wound channel such as a .45 IMHO. Mind you the .357 SIG is making good in roads in the states, but not in Canada yet.
All of this is non sporting talk of course, which is what I bought this particular 229 for(Go IPSIC!) so I'll be quiet now.
But the 229 is chunky compared to other pistols and you'll notice that when you first hold it. Try holding a Glock right after.
