SIG P239 TAC 9mm - start the countdown! (NOW HERE!)

actually the 229 with a tac threaded barrel would be cool.

and i also agree , a bunch of american outfits should band together and do what the chinese do with norinco, everyone pay a bit of that export license and share the profits... they would be foolish not to do it. everyone in the world looks to the US for firearms. you dont hear people in hungary or the UK saying hey lets get our gun stuff from canada.

i sure hope theres a light at the end of this tunnel, the US better smarten up, they arent doing to well.

Pictures of the P239 TAC are now up on the SIG website:

http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/ShowCatalogProductDetails.aspx?categoryid=9&productid=243

Gives a better idea of what exactly it looks like. One thing that is interesting is that the TAC has the "half" serrations (like the 229), and they are on the front of the slide and the back. The regular 239 has the 226/228 style serrations. I'm looking forward to getting a SIG with the SRT. None of mine have had it so far.

I see on the SIG page that they have thread caps for these guns now. Hopefully we can get some of those for the 239's, the 250's, the 220 combats and other SIGs that have threaded barrels.

I see also that the barrel is listed as 4.25 inch. That seems to jive with the pictures. The regular 239 barrel is listed as 3.6, which is around the same as the HK P2000. I think it was Questar had listed the 239 TAC as 4.6 - and I was thinking, "a full inch? that might look a little funny", but no it more like a bit over half an inch. I'm very enthusiastic about the look of the gun. Hopefully it shoots as good as it looks.

I really hope that Questar will get theirs this week! I'm looking forward to getting mine.

AND I REALLY HOPE YOU ALL GET OUT THERE AND VOTE TOMORROW! So I can keep my P239, and you guys can keep your firearms, and all of us can still hope to teach our children and grandchildren the joys of shooting.

wow, that does look very very appealing . damn you ghostie, its now on my list.. ( its a long list, but its still on it)

The 239's arrived on the weekend... very nice. Had a chance to test fire them and the trigger is quite nice. They have the SRT (short reset trigger) but it's even shorter than I'm used to on the 226 or 229 Elites. It's a really short reset and a really nice shooting gun.

The barrel is right on 106mm and does not look out of place at all.

CFC still needs to create an FRT for this model version (they're not in the system) so it will be a few days before we can initiate transfers. Those you had placed pre-orders can expect their transfers to be initiated this week.

For anyone who did not get their order placed at the 'advance' pricing there will be a price increase as a result of the slide in the Canadian dollar exchange. We're still working out pricing now and should have the info up on the website later this week.

I'm wondering why someone would get a gun with a threaded barrel when suppressor's are prohibited? Doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose?

This is the only model of SIG P239 that can be imported into Canada, and some of us really want a 239. That is the answer in a nutshell.

Some people think threaded barrels look better than extended barrel, or that they are more "legitimnate" in some way. I personally don't really see it that way, but some do. Some people also have fake "cans" for the hell of it.

I paid the balance on my P239 this morning! It is possible I could have it by next week! :dancingbanana:

And some sports require that the pistol barrel be of original equipment manufacture (meaning that an aftermarket barrel might not be acceptable).

The combination of (12.6) legal restrictions with market economics and sporting rules can produce some dubious-looking offsping. But beggars can't be choosers.

Im wondering why anyone would elect a liberal. I thought we in canada belived in peace, order and good government, doesnt that kind of deafeat the purpose?

So what if the barrel is threaded, who gives.

i couldnt even find these on the site before it went down to check out the price. will wait and see what the new price is

What I paid for mine from Questar is: $989.52 for the gun with two mags + $26.05 Canada Post Expited Parcel (Barrie to Vancouver) + $50.78 GST = a total of $1,066.35

So they are basically a thousand bucks. The price will probably go up a few %. The dollar went up today. Who knows where (and when) it will settle out.

ghostie you got a deal, i thought i saw them on there for 1099 before taxes and shipping ? (before they took the prices down to make changes because of the dollar )

Anyone who ordered BEFORE they arrived in Canada got a special price offer.

The "regular price" was supposed to be $1,012.61 (before the currency went nuts).

With currency costs having increased we've had no choice but to raise the price accordingly... see below posting for current pricing based on latest currency costs for our last shipment that came in.

Got mine in the mail today. I cleaned it up tonight and threw on a set of the Hogue rubber grips. Can't wait to hit the range on Fri.
I was pleasantly surprised that it came with three mags.

I got word from Questar that mine shipped out on Friday October 17th. I've got that "any day now" feeling. Today (Tuesday 21st) no luck. I am in Vancouver so it could be an extra day or two versus an Ontario delivery. When I get it I will post pics.

Three mags? Wow. My invoice says two 8 rounders. I will be pleasantly suprised if it is otherwise. I have two 10 rounds on the way as well. Those could arrive this week as well.

I picked up a couple of the ten round mags as well but the extra length makes them a bit unwieldy. (You will see.) It seemed that everyone on Sigforum was recommending the Hogue rubber finger grips and even though I don't like them on my 229 they work really well on the 239.

With the new currency costs... our last shipment of SIG's cost us considerably more than previously priced and posted. As of today it's costing us over 1.27 to buy US dollars and so that's what we're paying right now to pay for shiments received last week.

Based on the new costs the 239-9-TAC (which just arrived) are $1,250.01

Those that ordered at the pre-release price got a bargain as we honoured your pricing... we got skinned alive on these.
