SIG P320 New boy in the house

Love to see the pics of upgrades...and what you've had done...

Most of the improvement to the gun comes from internal work that will also be possible once Gray releases his upgrade kit. I used a kit on P226 I had and the result was remarkable. It does take a few tools and either courage or foolhardiness to pull off but I found it challenging and fun. I've done similar work on 1911's and a Tanfoglio I upgraded and converted. The sights aren't inexpensive but having similar set ups on my other guns convinces me that the upgrades will have value. I'll take pictures and post those once my project is finished.

I tried a 320 last weekend. It was brand new. It felt pretty good. But it should have had interchangeable back straps instead of the entire lower. Because the one I tried felt a bit too big for my hand.

Me too! I wish he shipped to Canada, or had a distributor.

I am still awaiting the Target model...

It's trickier that just exporting/importing a gun part because in the case of the P320 the FCU is actually the gun from a legal perspective. So you would also have to get a Canadian Export permit and send the FCU to the US as a repair and return item. Nobody down there is going to get into all that paperwork. Even in the US you lose the gun for four-eight weeks and it used to be more. As it is, Gray has all the work they can handle and more.

Yes, I think his waiting list is at least 4 months right now?

I don't know if you can find the grip modules here but IMO they are a better solution than the back straps as the entire grip is resized. The modules sell for $40 and less in the US. The medium is what ships as standard but there are people who happily change to a large or small depending on their preference. I may buy a module from Springer so that they can fit the mag well to it. There are people who change the module for carry purposes too. It's great fun to mix and match including changing colours if that turns your crank. I've actually considered getting a compact upper but having a FS a barrel cut to meet Canadian requirements. The industry is really responding to the P320 with lots of options if you are so inclined. I've seen some really neat colour combos and stippling patterns. That Springer Precision grip tape is a great option as you can get panels for just $7 if you buy a three pack.

You can get on his wait list of about four months and get an email when they are ready to do your gun which then gets turned around in four weeks depending what you get done. I can imagine that the P320 upgrade has been fully automated so it must be really good business for them. There are YouTube guides for a trigger job if you are inclined to that sort of thing. I don't think he has released the kit yet but when I did my P226 it was just a few hours mostly because I was sooooo careful. I'll bet a second one would be done in less than an hour. Complete disassembly of the FCU isn't rocket science but there are a lot of small parts and tricky springs. It's not exactly a job for the rank beginner but doable if you can read and follow the videos.

I have been very fortunate to have taken several Armorer's classes at The Sig Academy(Classis P-Series was one. Hope to do P320 class in the future). I would certainly be interested in his kits if I could buy one.

You will be fine then. As you probably know by now, a lot of improvements can be accomplished with careful polishing and spring changes. I spent many hours doing Tanfoglios but it was very gratifying. You can do the kit entirely without special tools with the P320. Most of my investment has been for punches, stones and the like. I've cut up a few finger tips too but that's part of the learning. Nothing is more useful than a good vise. I also use gripping tools that act as third hands. Playing with guns isn't quite like fiddling with auto parts as you do need nimble fingers. I also have a magnifying head set with lights that I wouldn't be without.
