I am new to the 1911 format, having just recently purchased a Sig Sauer 1911 Max Michel in .45 ACP. I cleaned and lubricated the gun, and went to the range a couple weeks ago and shot 100 rounds of Hornady Steel match 230 grain bullets with no issues whatsoever. I cleaned and lubricated the gun, and then went back to the range today with S&B and Blazer Brass 230 grain bullets. I loaded 8 rounds of the S&B into the Wilson Combat mag, and fired 5 shots, and then was unable to pull the trigger on the 6th round. I ejected the magazine and removed the bullet from the chamber. I checked the gun out, and all seemed to be fine. I dry fired with and without an empty mag, and no problems. I loaded the mag, and tried to fire again, and could not pull the trigger. I removed the mag and chambered bullet, and tried a Sig Sauer mag with the Blazer bullets, and again could not pull the trigger. The gun is clean and dry fires with no problem, any ideas what may be causing this issue?

Hmm, that sounds like a weird problem.

So just to make sure I get it :

1- Dry fire with empty mag inserted = works
2- Dry fire without mag = works
3- fire with loaded mag inserted = doesn't work

Is that correct?

Check the chamber, it sounds like you may have a small bit of crap at the front of the chamber preventing it from going into battery with a round in it. Also try it with a spent round and see if it still happens. If it works, then it has to be the ammo or your gun is slightly short chambered. Look at the back of the slide with a round chambered and see if the slide is fully forward. because it definitely sounds like it's not going fully into battery

I'm not an expert but could it be a firing pin problem? I can't think of anything that would block the trigger/trigger bow outside of the safety and grip safety.

So given that, the sig is a series 80 1911 yeah? What if the loaded chamber is pressing the pin which in turn is jamming up the firing pin block which blocks the lever which jams the trigger. Confused? Yeah me too.

This sounds more likely than my guess lol.

I'm guessing the same ie not in battery. Hammer releases when the trigger is pulled on an empty chamber shouldn't happen if the over travel was the culprit. I've had some ammo not chamber fully and I've had to tap the back of my Sig1911 to get it into battery.

My two problems were:

1) Gummed up Froglube on the slide was slowing down it down when it cycled.
2) Tight chamber which meant slightly oversized rounds would not easily chamber. I now run my ammo through a Lee carbide Factory Crimp die first.

ok turn out the set screw in the trigger 3 full turns.....my new S&W did this once i turned it out all was good ( turn it back in after till it fails)

I had a similar issue with rounds loading into a P220 mag, not exactly the same situation being discussed here. I believe the correct sizing for a .45ACP is 1.200 to 1.275”, anything above 1.250 would not load into my P220 mags. I only had this issue with .45 ACP SIG mags. I am not saying this is a mag issue though.

Load in a snap cap and remove the grip safety. See if there is anything off with the interaction of the internal fireing components when you try pressing the trigger. Do the same with an empty chamber and see if there is any slight difference.
