Sig Sauer Caliber X-Change Kit

Someone told me (this might not be completely true) that the .22 model had more plastic in it (guide rod)

The .22lr upper (slide, barrel, guide rod, etcd.) is the same whether you are buying the .22lr kit or the .22 Classic... the BOTH have a plastic guide rod and both are made of different materials than the 9mm or 40S&W upper (slide, barrel, guide rod, etc.).

But when you install the X-Change kit you are installing a full quality 9mm or 40S&W slide, barrel, etc. so either way you end up with a full strenght (if you will) 9mm or 40S&W regardless of how you start out... and either way you end up with a "regular .22lr slide/barrel/guide rod" no matter how you start out.

It's simply that SIG priced the Classic 22 and the X-Change Kit as a better deal (we don't expect them to keep offering that deal as it's costing them money doing it this way).

I doubt it's COSTING them money... they're just not making as much! ; )

^ what I was going to say lol just kinda shows how much profit they are making on these guns normally.

hmm...I guess it's a decent deal if you can get a 226 and 22 kit (ok the other way around) for $1100. I wonder if I wanted to sell the .22 upper and re register the gun as a 9mm how would would that work with CFC?

It's a fantastic deal... SIG actually priced them in such a way that it's cheaper to buy the Classic 22 + the 9mm X-Change kit instead of buying the 226 9mm gun and a .22lr conversion kit. Cheaper for us and therefore cheaper for you. It's like almost getting the .22 conversion for free when you compare the two methods of doing it.

You can't go wrong.

Do you hav the classic P226 22LR & the 9mm Calibre X-change kit in stock? Are there any issues with availability with either?

Stock status is always shown on our website (in real time)... right now it appears that we're sold out of the Model 226 Classic 22's but looks like we have a few of the X-Change kits left in stock.

Check the website for updates... when next shipment arrives the stock status will be adjusted to reflect available quantity. Or you can place an advance order through the website...

The "Classic 22lr" frame are the same frame used for other Sigs.

The slide is made of alumnium or some light alloy (feels like aluminium to me, but I'm no specialist, nor do I play one on TV :)).

Frame and slide contained no plastic parts, beside the guide rod. New sigs come with a plastic guide rod. I personnaly replaced mine with a SS guide rod from sigpower, but that's just me. The plastic guide rod doesn't supposely change reliability or durability; glocks run with them with no probs...
