I've even tried the .22 slide on an older German made Sig that a guy in our club had for sale, but the result is the same. Haven't compared my NP22 side by side with it but I'm sure that Ninja is correct. The locking block is definitely different than the one in my P226 Classic.
Congrats! The conversion to 9 mm requires about 30 seconds. You remove the .22 slide-barrel - recoil spring assembly and mount the 9 mm, that's it. I have installed the aluminum followers in both of my mags and they work perfectly and they do lock the slide back after the last shot. When I bought mine, they came with a spring that would allow full capacity (prohibited here) so replace just the follower only! By the way, once you order the followers, order the steel guide rod, a big improvement over the original.

I couldn't decide between the smooth or checkered end version so I bought both.
Here's a few suggestions for your cleaning kit:
- Cleaning Rod. Get yourself a quality .22 pistol cleaning rod. Preferably one with a carbon fiber rod and a swivel handle that lets the rod rotate freely. Carbon fiber rods are nice because they are less likely to damage your barrel.
- Patches. I prefer using cotton cleaning patches vs. the synthetic patches. I find that they are easier to handle and IMHO they do a better job at getting the crud out of your barrels. YMMV.
- Cleaning & Lubrication. Get yourself a good cleaning product/system. This could be a CLP (cleaner, lubricant, preservative), or three individual products that clean, lubricate and preserve. If you go with the latter, just make sure that the three products all work well with each other. I use Ballistoll which is a CLP product. It works great with all of your rifles, pistols, knives, dies, brass case lubrication, preserving wood (pistol grips & stocks), and general household lubrication needs. You will probably find it hard to find because very few shops carry it but if you are interested just Google "Ballistoll Canada" to find out where you can get it.

It didn't affect operation of the gun, or stripping it for cleaning at all? I was kind of thinking it was made of plastic so it could flex a bit... but hell if I know.
Definitely tempted to score one, though.
I've have the stainless steel P226 Elite and IMHO the stainless steel guide rod really completes the look. I'm a bit surprised that the SS guide rod does not come standard from the factory. As for reliability, I've NEVER had any FTF/FTE issues with my P226, that's with or without the SS guide rod.
Ya I definitly want to pick up the SS guide rod and followers. I tried emailing the guy and he hasn't got back to me yet but his web site says he won't have anymore until Jan 28 I think. He is making more.

I've never shot the CCI Blasers - I shoot the CCI Mini Mags in all of my .22 conversions. Let us know how the Blasers work out for you.
I use CCI Blazers in my 226 Classic .22, and they work quite well. The first box goes through with a couple fail to feeds, but now that it's broken in they shoot fairly well anyways. In a day at the range, shooting maybe 100-200 rounds, I'd say I now have 2 or 3 that will not feed properly, which to me isn't really a big deal.
I bought my SS guide rod, and 2 new mag springs through SigPower for the P226. As for ammo, I didn't have any CCI mini mags on hand. So I was firing CCI Stingers... They did okay about 1/10 would have either failure to feed or eject. Super X's would have about 2/10 failure to eject or feed. Federal bulk 555's every one was a failure to feed or eject. Need to get a few more hundred rounds of CCI's through it ideally mini-mags and I should be happy.
But the grip on the gun is fantastic at least for me, and I do like the trigger a lot.

What kind of shipping did you select? I only paid ~45 or so dollars for the entire thing. I only paid ~15 dollars for shipping. But I just did a check on his webpage and the shipping now is insanely high.... Very weird. Would cost me 60 bucks to ship to me again. Too bad I wanted the followers to0, but the backorder feature wasn't working when I bought my parts.

Forgot to mention that I received my gun today and they sent me the wrong one. I ordered the one with the beavertail but received the other one. They are willing to make it right but allot of hassle on my part and probably take a few weeks. Not very pleased but what can you do? I don't think it's worth the hassle.
Reading about all these failures doesn't make me too happy.
I've got the P229 in 22 with a 9mm top end that works great -- both do, the pistol came lightly used. It shoots Federal bulk pack ammo all day with no failures. Rails are kept greased and it gets cleaned after each use, and no plain lead ammo goes in.
I find copper jacketed ammo to be critical to proper function. One of my friends bought a P226 .22 classic and had malfunctions every mag until he quit using plain lead ammo and we thoroughly cleaned and greased the slide.
As far as conversions go, the P220 .22 kit seems to work fine on my P226 (no rails), with of course the substitution of the correct mag. I believe that one got a stainless guide rod from the EE.
If you can find a Dlask 394 top end (or kit), the barrel can be fitted to your P229 .22 with excellent results in 9mm. I use SIG mags with mine and it's a great shooter.
