SIG short reset trigger

I ordered a kit from Reliable and waited months. I ended up selling my P220before before it ever came. Last time I checked (just for the hell of it) it was nearly a year and still no kit. They short reach trigger eventually arrived without the new internals.

The SRT kit was only available in the states as far as I know. The was an armourer here that brought a few back at one time, but thats all Ive heard of in Canada.

Two different things the short trigger and the short reset trigger. The short trigger is for small hands.

If you find a supplier with the SRT let us know :) my P220 could use one.

I have a SRT on my Elite, and yes it does make the rest of the trigger shorter than the stock trigger. It still has the regular wide trigger and not the the thin "short trigger".

I also have one on my Elite but noticed little difference from Sig`s without it.

I notice it but it isn't the end of the world.

With the SRT you don't have to release the trigger as far. The trick of it is finding out how far because the trigger is under the same tension through out the whole motion past the reset to the point where your not pressing it at all.

Weird... I can't say that I'm a fan of that idea. I like that nice click letting me know when I'm reset.

You still get the same "click" when the trigger resets. The reset is just closer to the letoff.

That sounds like a genuine improvement and feature then! I'm sure it's aimed specifically towards sport shooting but I like Sig pistols and welcome them catering a few features toward competition shooting. I'm eager to try one out.

I find the SRT nothing but a positive improvement. IMO, the reset was SIG's worst feature from a (using it in) competition stand point. A re-worked X-Five All Around with the SRT would be a deadly IPSC production gun.

To complain that the the trigger tension is the same... even after the reset is totally ridiculous. Take any DA or DAO pistol (Glock, HK, CZ, original Sig) and tell me if the tension changes after the reset. It's the trigger return spring that controls the tension and the tension will be the same for the full range of trigger return.

I installed one on my 226 and I'll be damned if I can see the difference in reset length. It still blows - ymmv.

You installed a "short trigger" NOT a short reset trigger system. They are two different things.

We sell "Short Triggers"... they are a commonly available part and designed for people who want to shorten the trigger reach. It has nothing to do with trigger reset.

The SRT (short reset trigger) system is only available (at this point) as an installed feature on the gun from the factory. SIG has not yet made this available as a "kit" for retro-fitting existing guns. There is talk that they will at some point offer it but up to now I have yet to see confirmed evidence that they've actually made these available for user/armourer installation outside of the factory. I've read rumours to that effect but have yet to see those rumours proven out.

A lot of people seem to have confused the two things... thinking that the "short trigger" was an SRT and then saying there was no difference in the reset... there wouldn't be any difference in the reset with a short trigger... it simply shortens the trigger reach.

In order to change the reset you'd need to replace a number of internal parts... not just a trigger.

The short trigger should have been called the "thin Trigger" to save alot of confusion and misconceptions, however it has been avaiable for several years and the SRT has only been around the last couple years.
The SRT kits were available in the states for a short time to the general population! Then as with all good things, liabilities became an issue and they were taken off the market and if you wanted an SRT installed you had to send you pistol back to SIG to have one of thier armourers install it...this is all according to the guys on sigforum. I can however confirm that they were avaiable at one time as I was able to get one!

Thanks Mark. I guess I owe Markus a :kickInTheNuts:.

The SRT kits were availiable at the Sig Academy's "pro shop". I picked up two kits there last year when I was on training. They retailed for $56.90 but you get a 20% discount at the Pro Shop so they were only $44.80 and of course there is no sales tax in N.H.
The "kit" consists of two parts, a new sear and a new safety lever.
