SIG Wood grips don't feel "just right"? Answer: Short Trigger

I have a P229SAS which I love... however it never fit me "just right."
Because I love this gun I was determined to make it fit...

First I ordered some new hammer springs (19#) from Wolf thinking the trigger was just too heavy; it helped, but it still didn't feel right.

Next I ordered some plastic grip panels to replace the wooden ones (this broke my heart as the wood was why I got her) and again it improved the feel, but it still wasn't right.

I did some reading on some forums and learned a little about the "SIG ARMS SHORT TRIGGER." I didn't understand what it was until I saw pics. It's basically a trigger which has a lot of the metal removed on the face of the trigger so that people with Medium sized hands (myself) aren't stretching for that long, uncomfortable DA pull. This is a factory SIG part (not aftermarket).

I ordered one 2 weeks ago and it came today, I just finished installing it and...
WOW!!!

Needless to say I re-installed the ###y wood grips and in conjunction with te 19# hammer spring this gun is now dreamy.

So... anyone out there in CGN land with a SIG and WOOD grips (or plastic if you have small hands) I highly recommend the Short trigger!!

I ordered mine through Brownells and the price is good. If I could rate upgrades/modifications - The SIG Short Trigger gets a 5/5 from me :)

I am so happy about this part that I had to post~
~Cheers

P.S. I will be up at POCO this weekend if anyone wants to check it out :)
I'll let you shoot a few (bring your own .40S&W ammo if you want to run through more) ;)

Well I love my short trigger. It came with my P226 so I really don't know the feel of what a long trigger is, but I have been enjoying the short trigger and the "smooth" DA pull. I also got me some Hogue Rubber grip panels today. Before the gun felt like it was mean for my hand, now it feels like its part of my hand.

Yeah, I read that a few SIGs came with Short Triggers, but that it's rare.
It's a must have accessory IMHO; you should get to decide which you want when you buy :)

Mine was a CPO so perhaps it was an upgrade from the armorer when it went back to the factory?

I like mine P226 just as it is :) I don't like the looks of the wood grips :runaway: and with SA/DA trigger I don't need the short trigger which kinda look wierd on the SIG. I would get Hogue rubber grips but they make the grip a bit fatter...

Last week after about 300 rounds shooting my 124Gr loads at the rang the webbing between my thumb and my index finger started getting agitated from the rubbing and my tight grip, so hopefully these grips will solve that problem.. Also I saw them today in the gun shop so I said sure :D I have relatively large hands so I don't mind the grip. My hands sweat alot and with these 30C days its going to be a real test if it does not get all slippery and make me want to switch back the notably thinner factory plastics.

I'd post pics but my "X" took the digital camera ;)

I've been looking at a stainless one in the EE with the short trigger, 5mags, fibre optic front sight and holster etc for $1250.00. What do you think? Wish I could get to POCO this weekend where I'm also a member but speaking of ex's it's my weekend with my other baby. Maybe another time. I've got a nice Kimber TCII .45 you could try.

I came home to a package from P&D today. Ordered a P229 SAS last friday. Transfered & shipped from Alberta to Ontario in 7 days!!. I'm quite amazed. Thanks P&D!

Only one small problem. The thing is missing a grip screw!!!!! There are screws in only 3/4 holes. Its even on the side facing you when you open the case. Funny no one noticed...

Anyway, with the excellent speed they gave me, I'm not going to make a big deal about a grip screw. I've still got to join a range, do the probationary shoots and get approved for an ATT so I've got time to spare. I'm trying to hunt down a place you can buy grip screws, I will try to pick up a short trigger at the same time.

Not to mention this is a really "anti" town, with only one gun shop who only stocks "hunting" supplies because its all he can sell. Not much "target shooter" market here, he says. But the guy is friendly enough, he'll glady order me some .40 S&W. So I gotta wait for ammo too.

I'm a patient guy :)

I'm sure that Chris Mitchell at P&D would want to know about the missing screw and send you one right away even if you have gotten another.

Hey BC Mike,
I didn't tune in to your earlier post... unfortunately POCO was closed all weekend :(
The package you are looking at sounds like a pretty decent deal; if you can, wait until you try my SAS ;) It's got a really nice trigger now.

TheBigOne:
Brownells carries them if you haven't found one yet and don't want to wait... but I am sure P&D will fix you up (that's where I got mine) :)

I'm sure they would fix me up, but I'm getting a short trigger & cleaning kit through Brownell's anyway so I may as well just get it there. It will cost me less than a call to Alberta anyway :D

G37, your grip screws are Hex/Torx... Mine are slotted. Funny.

Yes, they are Torx; that is weird that your's are slotted, you'd think they'd be consistent with a small batch to Canada. Odd.

No matter :)

can anyone advise where I can buy the short trigger, and how much?

Thanks

Just ordered one from Brownells, it was 27 something US. Not sure how much they charge for shipping.

If anyone is looking for some Wolff springs for their P229, let me know. I had to order two sets to meet Wolff's minimum order.

for the short trigger you go to Brownells which sells two types, or go directly to Sig for factory, I installed a 17lb hammer spring to my 226, and very much better, for med. hands. funny because one R.O. question my trigger saying its illegal in production..
