Sigarms 556 rifle

If by some miracle, the powers that be deem this is not in fact a varient of the Sig 550, than the importer will wind up being R. Nichol, so were screwed both ways.

A cheap version would be nice, but given the possible outcomes, I suspect I'd be happier paying an extra grand for the Swiss Arms models from a company that gives a rats ass about the civilian shooter.

You could import them into Canada thru the services of Questar and it is more like 1500.00+ in Canada.

Not for a minute do I knock Mark, however there is a problem when you grey market a product that is theoreticly represented by a Canadian distributor. You as the purchaser of a grey market product are on your own if you have a problem. If there is a recall, or upgrade, have fun. The company representing that product won't likely deal with you, and Marks service begins with your order, and ends with his delivering your requested product.

With the Sig pistol line, TSE seem to have vented their own frustration by in effect setting up their own second stream distribution system. Bravo for them. I only wish they could get the better discount R.Nichols is likely getting. If the 556 turns out to be legal for import, I hope TSE import the SOB. The 556 isn't as nice to my eyes as the Swiss Arms, but if my budget was limited to AR-15 level $$$, I'd rather get the 556 for the same amount.

The last tread or two on the 556 strayed into areas that resulted in them being deleted. I was wondering how long it would take this time. Looks like we are all being well behaved this time though so it might last.

Frankly I think the 556 is FUGLY...either go for a "real" SIG/Swiss Arms from TSE or buy yourself an AR-15.

The only reason i'd buy one is is all i could afford was an AR. The M-16/AR-15 is nice, but at the same price I'll go for the mongrel 556.

No more "theoretical" way of importing 556. The swiss arms imported into Canada are variants of SG540 made by SwissArms which is non-prohibited while the SigArms SG556 is of a questionable and undetermined linkage to the SIG SG55X series. Any posts who want to muddle these two will get deleted because this has been told again again again again again again and again.

Sorry I did not know people had been doing this.

well when they are made availible, how about making a raffle. $10/person. questar imports one and let the forensics guys have at her. when (no if :) ) they are let it into civilian hands then draw a name.

As much as you are likely joking, this isn't such a bad idea. So often we hear the same old line, "put up or shut up". and it's valid. Who wants to risk 1-2-3 thousand dollars importing a gun only to have it siezed as a prohib depending on how the wind is blowing or the line up at the local Tim Horton's.

Next time, on top of doing on hell of a lot of leg work and supporting documentation, we should spread the risk among the interested parties. Best case, someone gets to claim they got the first in the country and got it cheap. Worst case, your out 10-20 bucks.

If the swiss arms classification gets altered, every swiss arms owner here on CGN will know who it is responsible.

And don't even think of using CGN to organize, i will not approve it.

so does this mean i shouldn't bother PM'ing you?:D
