Hello folks...bit of a noob question...

I have Vortex Strikefires on both my AR and SU-16. Took them in to sight them yesterday. I did the usual...start out at 25 meters, adjust them to group at point of aim, then repeat the process at 50 meters and then 100 meters (Poco targets are in meters).

I had no problems with zeroing them at 25 and 50 meters, but noticed that as soon as I went oout to 100 meters, my red dots that were zeroed at 50 meters were shooting really high at 100. I'm not talking about 2-3"...but more like 10 inches!

I adjusted them so that they were zeroed at 100, but when I went back to shoot at the 50 meter targets, it was now shooting 10" too low.

Is this normal? Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Thanks in advance for any tips.

Cheers.

Thanks, Xeelee...any tips on what I might be doing wrong? I've sighted in a few regular scopes on rifles before, and have never encountered this issue. I'm planning on going back to the range a putting on the 2x magnifier to see if that helps with the longer shots. Also felt I should have turned the brightness down all the way to make the smallest dot.

Yeah turning down the dot will help. Try to turn it down till is just barley visible to get the most accurate sight-in possible. Just out of curiosity, do you have astigmatism?

I don't...I'm lucky to still have perfect vision also. I had the older Strikefire zeroed on the AR with no problems a couple of minths ago...then I fiddled around with it when I decided to give the Larue RISR a try...took the RISR off and fiddled with the red dot again, and now I have that issue. The Strikefire on my SU-16 is brand new, and this was the first time I sighted it in and it has this issue. I'll just go and do it again, but with the dot brightness as low as I can to make the smallest dot possible. It's weird though, the first time I sighted it in, the dot was fairly big and it didn't seem to be an issue. I had a Bushnell T-dot on my SU-16 that time, and it was actually better than the Vortex, because it had a smaller dot to begin with...but that's off to Bushnell for warranty repairs right now. Thanks again.

Ever think it's the SU16, not the sight?
I'm not having fun trying to sight in mine either. Not with a 5x scope or a 9x scope.

I know this doesn't help but I bought a Lucid HD7 because I can change the retical and the dot is 2 moa unlike some which are way larger like 4-5moa.

Do you know of issues with having an astigmatism? I have it and seem to be having issues with red dots ....

I'm having the same problem as the OP and I DO have astigmatism... What does that have to do with it?
