Went to the range to-day to shoot my latest acquisition for the first time. Fired at 50 yards, the shortest distance available for center fire ammo. Had two targets up side by side with about a 6 in. space between, slightly smaller than full newspaper page.
1) First five rounds at right-hand target. One hit low left barely on paper, other 4 about a 5 in. group low right on the left-hand target. So far so good.
2) Extended bayonet and fired 5 rounds at right-hand target. No hits whatsoever.
3) Fold bayonet and fire 5 rounds to right of right target, no hits.
4) 5 rounds 12 o'clock high on right target, no hits.
5) Try to repeat 1) aiming center, no hits.
Watching the dust kick up behind the targets looked like shots were going all over the place. And I guess things just got worse as the barrel heated up.
Any advice from Mosin shooters out there? I suppose I need to go to a 25 yard range to get a better idea of what is going on. BTW shooting 1971 Chinese ammo. Problem?
