Im currently looking to purchase a SIGHTRON - SIII SS - 6-24X50MM - MATTE - SF - LONG RANGE MILDOT.

I know nothing about scopes, and I just want to make sure this is a good scope. Or is there something better in the 1000$ price range.

Thanks

Mine isn't a mildot - but is otherwise the same scope. Like it very much, shot it in competition this past season.

Yes, very good.

No, Nothing even close.

Edit: I'm taking my new to me SIII 8-32x56LRFCH to the range today for the first time. My internet research pointed me to it as the best value for my money, but I lucked into one on a trade.

I've shot to 1000m, and 24X is plenty. Rarely use the 24X; generally use less.
Depends on what you want to do with the reticle. I think it terms of minutes, so the LRMOA reticle works for me. A MD reticle will be just fine, even if you never use the mildots.

My Nemesis now wear a Slll 6X24X50 LRMD and it is and awsome scope, no problem shooting to 1000 metres with it, you wont be sorry if you get one... JP.

I just sent Clay an email over at Prophet River for an SIII. I love my Sightron S2 4-16-42 that i have on my MKII TR.

I just read a bunch of reviews on Snipers Hide this morning and it was the nudge I needed to get off my wallet. Im sure glad December is my free delayed payment month on my mortgage and my truck. adds allot of funds to the gun budget.

I can't say enough about mine! I talked to three of my buddies about mine and after looking through my scope they each bought one! We all bought the 10-50x60mm FC the Nightforce's are nice but a lot more money!

I'm glad to see an opinion on the 10-50 x 60, that's the scope that I am looking at for a new long range rifle build.

It is a great scope, i have the Slll 10X50X60 LRTD and it make my shooting easier being that good of a scope... JP.

I have three 8-32X56mm , two of them have the LRMOA reticle and one has the LRTD reticle. I am happy with all three but if I had to choose only one reticle I think it would be the LRTD.

It is my go to reticule to, i would say for my needs, it is the best of all... JP.

I have a SIII 10-50x. I've never had a chance to look through a S&B or a Nightforce, But for the $1200 I spent including tax, I have the say the scope is pretty dam good. +1 for sightron.

You guys are making me go out of my price range. stop it before I get a divorce...

Ok, here's what you do - Take your wife out shopping and when you're in a shoe store and she has a new pair of shoes in her hands, THEN you tell her that you went a little over budget on the scope.

I use a 8-32x56TD 1/8clicks and 10-50x60lrmoa, both really great scopes, really like the MOA reticle. 6-24x50 is a great scope too, don't have one but looked at/through one, more compact size has its advantages for some uses.
I like as much magnification available as possible and for my use the added size is no problem, 10-50x60 is great as it focuses close enough for indoor use, really good eye relief too.

I don't think there's any scope out there that offers as much as sightron does for the money, really great value, if you can look through a few and decide.
