Hello, Any input would be greatly appreciated. All the tall silhouette rings I've been able to find are in the US and they will
not ship to Canada. I cannot find any canadian suppliers. Just a set of 11mm dovtail risers would also work, can't find any
of those in canada either. 1.30''-1.40'' from top of rail to bottom of scope tube would work for me.
any opinions? cz 457 premium rifle trying to set up for silhouette. Thanks

Sounds like he’s looking for Davidson/kelbly style rings. 3/8” 11mm. Your not going to find what you want on the shelf of a Canadian retailer

Happy hunting

Amazon, look for Westhunter rings in their sports and outdoor section, they are high and inexpensive and decent quality.

Thanks everyone for the input, sorry for the late reply , I have not been getting notifications for some reason.
Thanks boxhitch for pointing me towards the nordic marksman, I ended up finding something that will work for me there, I;ll get back to that.
The scope is a burris prevail 4.5-14x44 (I'm in the process of looking for a better suited silhouete scope) I did order some tall rings
on amazon these were the tallest I could find, UUQ high profile, 0.98 from bottom of base to bottom of scope tube, not tall enough.

Yes it is the Davidson/kelby type that I was looking for and unable to find. So what I found at the nordic marksman is
a set of, Anschutz 18mm sight risers, those with a set of talley low rings will get me to approx 1.35'' which "I think" will put
me where I want to be, given my highly technical way of measuring scope height, tape small blocks of wood to top of dovetail then
tape scope on top of that until I get what feels like the right height. At least if the low scope rings are not tall enough I can return them
to bass pro shop and try the med. Thanks again to everyone for your help. If anyone has a suggestion for a good middle of the
road cost scope for silhouete please let me know. oh... and how to enable email notifications.

Stupid question but what’s the reasoning for having the scope so high above the bore??

Not a stupid question at all, I wondered the same prior to getting into silhouette shooting. The idea is to
have your neck in a more natural upright position which should make for less muscle input onto the gun and
a more stable repeatable shooting platform. Thats my understanding anyway , there's probably others here
with much more experiance than I who could explain it in more detail.

sounds right , look at the position of a biathlon shooter
some prs shooters have moved to shorter lop and higher head position also, rifle butt adjusted appropriately

Thats interesting that it's being used in prs, makes sense, especially when your huncher over in a low position
like 2nd step up on a ladder, the less you have to bend your neck forward the easier it would be.

You can find some threads on snipershide not just gas guns but bolt actions as well. If you get away from 3/8 11mm and us pic you’ll find a lot better availability

Once I receive the sight risers I'll get a better idea as to what height rings I'll need, I have some amazon med height
rings that Ill mount up which will help me fine tune the height needed.

That's about it. That's why there's a rule for a maximum of 1.5" for the scope tube above the action, because it is supposed to be a sport related to hunting, and they don't want people getting ridiculous about it. This is also why they have a jig that your rifle is supposed to fit into, so that the dimensions still resemble a typical hunting rifle. High rings right up around the maximum allowable height definitely make a positive difference. I have the high variant of Burris Signature rings on both my silhouette rifles, a CZ 453 Varmint and an Anschutz 1712. To see whether or not I would like having rings that put the scope kissing that maximum height, since it is so common to get right up against the rule for the top shooters, I figured I'd 3D print some rings that meet the rule and give it a try. It definitely is a lot nicer!

The 3D printed rings aren't suitable for normal use. They didn't hold zero well, but they were sufficient to give the height a try. I haven't gotten around to it, but I do want to replace the rings on both rifles now with max height ones. I've also thought about having some produced by a 3rd party since we have so much trouble getting anything in Canada, but the cost involved wouldn't make any sense. At least, I'd be fine with the cost for my own sets, but I don't think anybody would then pay what would be necessary for it to make business sense. We need to find a Canadian with CNC machines to start making them, hehe. I mean, even getting a company like PCBWay to make them would be sufficient, even if their tolerances aren't great, because we can use Burris's Pos-Align inserts to sidestep having to have nice tolerances.

Anschutz 18mm Sight Riser Set XXL 18 mm, This is what the rings will mount too

I came across a facebook page group in the US where someone has posted 3 files that enable you to 3d print some adjustable scope rings in order to figure out what height you need, at some point I might bring them to a 3d print shop, would be handy to have. I figured that 1.35-1.40 inch will be a good fit , we’ll see.

As far as a cnc shop goes I think it would be a relatively easy build for them but as you say the cost would be high unless they has some serious volume to build.

What scopes are you using for silhouette shorty?
