Silhouette shooters !! Help... Where to get tall scope rings

Old ones. haha. On the Anschutz I have a Bushnell Elite 4200 8-32x40 mm that I keep at 32x. It's pretty decent for silhouette. The CZ has a cheap Tasco 6-24x42 mm. It's pretty crap for everything. hehe. Unless you like everything looking yellow and dim. In that case, they're awesome.

Yea , in my research that's seems to be the common thread, old discontinued scopes, for scopes that are actually available the leupold 6.5-20x40
is mentioned a lot and there are none in stock in canada at this point anyway, which leaves me kinda in no mans land. Frustrating, oh well.

I would like to get a Sightron 8-32x56 mm, I think it is. And I believe they're available with fine crosshairs and a small dot. I might still be able to make weight with that on the Anschutz, and a friend of mine has one on his. I might have to switch to aluminum rings instead of the steel Burris ones to do so if it is a hair over. The CZ 453 Varmint is too heavy to take one of those, but I think it would be ok if it just inherited the Bushnell. The heavier barrel and all the Devcon steel putty and pillars I put in it make it tough to make weight with. It just barely does with that old Tasco on it. I think the Bushnell's weight might be similar, if not slightly less, so it should still be fine with that scope if I snag the Sightron for the other gun.

In my hunt I've come accross the sightron, it looks like it would fit the bill alright unfortunately it's out of my
price range. You bring up another good point that I have to keep in mind, the weight restrictions. I'm looking
forward to having my rifle set up and all I have to do is shoot and clean it, LOL.

Sightron 36X is about 17 ozs only and less than $900 iirc
I have an older Simmons 24X w/fine ch's and target dot, 1" tube weighs in ~14 ozs, sitting in Talleys on the Anschutz
another guy here figures the 24X is too much power for 22sil
Buris Fineplex 5-25 is another good option

I diden't want to go with a high fixed magnification right of the bat because just starting out with this style
of off hand shooting I'm not too steady, hopefully that will improve with practice, having an adjustable zoom I think
makes more sense for me at this stage, as I improve my hold I can increase the zoom. I found this sightron online last
night and ordered it , I think (hope) it will serve the purpose for me. Sightron s-tac 4-20x50 duplex reticle, 23.6 oz

Lots of people like going up or down in magnification based on how their day is going. If they’re not doing so well they’ll turn it down for the rest of the match and seem to find it helps.

As for 24x being too much for silhouette, it is a personal thing. When I first started with that 6-24x Tasco I was shooting with it somewhere in the 12-16x range. It didn’t take all that long for me to find myself with it at 24x and I never turned it down again. When I bought the Anschutz and the Bushnell 8-32x I started with it at 24x but almost immediately thought, well, it goes to 32x. Try 32x. So I did. And I never moved it again. I’ve been shooting at 32x for many years. Gotta be over a decade, I would think. But plenty of the guys shooting it way longer than I have swear by 12x or 16x. I think it’s just preference.

I think the 4-20x should be a good starting point, after some time using it I will start to figure out what
zoom levels works best for me at the beginer level that I'm at, maybe as my steadyness improves I will also
come to appreciate the higher zoom levels.

Hello, Any input would be greatly appreciated. All the tall silhouette rings I've been able to find are in the US and they will
not ship to Canada. I cannot find any canadian suppliers. Just a set of 11mm dovtail risers would also work, can't find any
of those in canada either. 1.30''-1.40'' from top of rail to bottom of scope tube would work for me.
any opinions? cz 457 premium rifle trying to set up for silhouette. Thanks
Hi , on Amazon you can get a clamp on rail adapter for the 11mm dovetail. Then you can buy regular extra high rings'' vortex pro extra high 1.5''''. I have 1 on my anschutz 190 works excellent.

I clearly didn;t look closely enough when searching on amazon, I now see there is one
that would work, thanks for pointing it out. It would give 18mm rise just like the ones I ordered from the nordic marksman at twice the price, the
amazon one is pic rail style vs dovetail either would work with some low or med rings to keep under the 1 1/2 height limit. At least there's
another option if for some reason the nordic marksman ones don't work out . thanks again
