Anyone ever spray Silicone Lube or Teflon Lube from Motomaster/CTS down the barrell? I know it reduces friction, but what about long term effects and acidity of the products on the metal/plastic parts. mind you, not using it as a lube (of course) just down the barrell prior to shooting. Yes i have tried this, and noticed a better shot. One spray about 2sec long down my OLD Crossman 795 and Beeman Big Bear. I noticed my grouping was about 1/8-3/16" closer @ 60', however after about 10-12 shots it started to go back to where it was.
Is there something on the market specifically designed in this manner for airguns? I've asked airgun companies, gunsmiths, and dealers, and they all say not to do it but don't give ANY reason as to why. I use them to hunt squirrels and rabbits when i dont want to spend the cash for .22cal rds, and when i want more of a challenge. but mostly i use them for mesin around plinking and shootin cans. alot cheaper than bullets and it's a great way to keep your aiming in check.

I've read about a guy that used to clean the grease and crap from the factory out of cheap Chinese leather sealed airguns with WD40 then leave them a couple days to dry out then follow with a shot of STP down the receiver port.claimed it upped the velocity but I wouldn't do it to any of my guns.I guess he wouldn't be out much with a $50 Chi/Com if it dieseled and wrecked the innards..............Harold

the only thing i'd put down the barrel is gun oil. WD/40 will eventually gum up under pressure. i can't see how it would actually have any benefit.

i didnt say WD40. i said Silicone Lubricationg Spray or Teflon Lubricationg Spray. WD40 is no good for anything except breaking rusty bolts loose. and then again i dont think i would use it.

I've used Triflow (teflon spray) on my Hammerli express. I don't think it hurts, and makes everything a little smoother, however, a little goes a long way. You don't want to clog up the grooves with unnecessary gunk.

Pellgun oil is all you need and can be found at your local Canadian tire

i use pelgun oil (aka skim oil dyed piny/red) it works for lube and the main movement points. it disipates quickly as it is so thin and has no adhering properties. im looking for something to reduce friction, and increase accuracy, like the Silicone Spray did.

I have a Beeman Big Bear (i dont remember the mo#) with about 10,000rnds through it and i have only clean about 1000rnds or so. i know teflon gums up if u use too much, a friend of mine uses it in his, but it works better than silicone spray. i use silicone spray b/c it doesnt gum up like that. ill have to see what happens if i try it..

The WD40 was for removing all the Chinese gunk slowing the piston down.Like I said I wouldn't do it to my guns....................Harold
