Anyone ever spray Silicone Lube or Teflon Lube from Motomaster/CTS down the barrell? I know it reduces friction, but what about long term effects and acidity of the products on the metal/plastic parts. mind you, not using it as a lube (of course) just down the barrell prior to shooting. Yes i have tried this, and noticed a better shot. One spray about 2sec long down my OLD Crossman 795 and Beeman Big Bear. I noticed my grouping was about 1/8-3/16" closer @ 60', however after about 10-12 shots it started to go back to where it was.
Is there something on the market specifically designed in this manner for airguns? I've asked airgun companies, gunsmiths, and dealers, and they all say not to do it but don't give ANY reason as to why. I use them to hunt squirrels and rabbits when i dont want to spend the cash for .22cal rds, and when i want more of a challenge. but mostly i use them for mesin around plinking and shootin cans. alot cheaper than bullets and it's a great way to keep your aiming in check.
