Congrats on a nice rifle. I think that scope is about perfect for it as well. Single shots are my centre fire rifles of choice as well. I like them for the fact that they are short and generally light (Ruger #1 being an outlier). Over the years, at least while hunting here in Canada, I started out with inexpensive bolt actions, moved to levers, back to bolts, but now only have single shots for centre fires. I’ve owned a Ruger #3 and #1, both in 45-70, and now own a Traditions G3 in 44RM and a Win 1885 Low Wall in 6.5CM. The 1885 is the most graceful, elegant rifle I’ve owned to date and it’s a joy to carry and shoot.Anyone else like the simplicity and no frills style of single shot hunting rifles like I do? Reliability and price where my two main focus when shopping for a new rifle. Just hoping that it maintains its reliability for years to come,

Which did you find performed "better" 243 or 35w?I’ve got two Cva scout SS/TD. A compact 243 and a 35 whelen. Both have taken bears. Think the 243 will see deer season this year.
Interesting enough the 243.Which did you find performed "better" 243 or 35w?
Thanks, it seems well suited for it so far. I think a Win 1885 maybe the next single shot added too my safe. Very nice looking rifles!Congrats on a nice rifle. I heartily second your choice of a single shot!
The Henry Single Shot looks good in that cartridge.I'd like a single in 360bhmr
Same here and if you practice a bit you can reload quite quicklyI have several single shots never felt I was disadvantaged, even in moose , grizzly country.
With original high wall if you keep dropping the block without putting it on half cockt first you will eventually break the firing pin. Thanks, it seems well suited for it so far. I think a Win 1885 maybe the next single shot added too my safe. Very nice looking rifles!
I'd much prefer a traditions g3 or CVA scout. Scope can be mounted alot lower on those than the Henry. The Henry Single Shot looks good in that cartridge.
My 2506 has produced the fastest kills of any of my rifles. Equaled only to a 405gr flat nose into a black bear at about 12'. 2506 has always been like lightning I'd assume the 243 with proper bullet would be similarInteresting enough the 243.
The trigger is much better. I have one that went through the recall. Still not super light, but mine went from like 7lb to 3.I'd much prefer a traditions g3 or CVA scout. Scope can be mounted alot lower on those than the Henry.
The last couple henry singles I played with had horrible triggers. I've heard the newer ones are better
