Sized brass will not fit? What?

If the unsized brass fit all your different rifles and none of the resized brass from two different die manuf. fit any of the same rifles...the one common denominator that I would suspect in all of this is your press has become "sprung" somehow and is putting a bend in your cases...did you use your press to "form" some wildcat brass in its previous life?

Yes - a possibility that the ram is no longer "in-line" with the die?? I would guess a number of sized cases stood on end on a flat surface, then rotate them, would show up if the cases are bent or "crooked". A very curious situation - looking forward to hear what the OP discovers!

In other-words, severe case run-out.

OP is describing the issue occurring in multiple chambers and with 2 different sizing dies - something I have not heard of previously - was pretty sure I had screwed up every way possible, but this is something I had not previously seen. So I am interested to hear what is going on!!

OP - I'm thinking - what is common? - are you sure that you have a correct shell holder?? Not just one that fits, but the correct one for 308 Win?? If sizing slightly not enough with full length sizer, can squish down the side walls and at a point the shoulder gets pushed forward - that partially sized case will no longer chamber - but continued sizing gets the shoulder pushed back enough - only if shell holder allows that...

If you want to try to force case in a smidgeon deeper into the sizing die, then use leaves from feeler gauge - can often slide up to .005" or more between brass's head and holder, while held in there - so forces the brass in that little bit further - saves having to grind down the shell holder top or the bottom of the die(s) to try...

Don't forget to remove the de-capping pin first.

If I am sizing brass that needs to be full length sized, I adjust the die about 2 revs past just touching the shell holder - so that on the size stroke the die hits the shell holder. No cam over. This means I get 100% sizing.

My guess is that it is a shell holder issue. Grind/file some off the top surface.

Thank you everyone for your tips and tricks.

I don’t know when I’ll be able to set up the reloading bench again, ugh.
My Summer vacation has ended short four days in due to work being short handed, so much for rebuilding the 6L, half way through the 2L, and now the dog is wearing stitches. So, probably not getting back to the reloading for a while, darn it, maybe when its raining sideways again, but in the meantime the need to keep people from lightning campfires in our TFL is upmost important, too many idiots think the fire ban doesn’t apply to them.

Whenever I do get a chance at it, I’ll update the thread to let you know what it might have been, could be a while, darn it.
That’s life. It is what it is, no matter what best plans are laid out.

Thank you and Best regards.

Well, finally got back to the reloading bench today, set everything up as per usual, and low and behold, all the dies I was using before preformed flawlessly, weird, but not complaining.
Yep, I know, it’s been just a hair over four months since I was here last time, that four letter word (work) can sure get in the way of life sometimes. LOL
I was at Cabelas yesterday and saw the Lee Ultimate die set for the 308Win, and remembering that I was having trouble last time with the dies I had on hand from before, decided to grab the Lee set just in case. Go figure, too funny.

So now that I have my brass sized, sorted by weight, and flash holes uniformed, it’s time to figure out what powder to use with 150grain bullets (interlocks), using my compact 18” barrel for these loads.
I see some 748, Varget, IMR4350, Hybrid 100V, IMR 3031, sitting in the cupboard, thought there was some IMR4895 and IMR4064 somewhere.
What do you folks fancy with with the 150’s

Thank you again for your time and effort’s earlier, best regards and hope everyone is enjoying the holidays.

Edit; one thing I did do was purchased a Hornady #1 shell holder for the Hornady dies instead of using a Lee shell holder with the Hornady dies. But that’s about all I did, still pulled both sizer dies (RCBS & Hornady) apart and cleaned them inside, put them back together as per instructions, set them in the presses as per instructions, just like four ago, and look at that, they worked as they should. Happy camper here.
