Sk trespass law being changed; just a heads up

It is not passed yet.

As a hunter this is both good and bad. On the plus side, it'll cut down on the number of hunters that just drive around every slough, abandoned yard and piece of brush hoping to find their deer, it'll also stop the weekend warriors who blast up the first deer they see, regardless of where it is. It will definitely make pre-season scouting more important.

On the bad side, nowadays with all the big farms and corporations who own land, it can be tough to find a contact to actually ask for permission. It'll also ruin your hopes when you're driving down the road and see a B&C deer in a random stubble field and you can't shoot it because you don't have permission.

Personally I think the whole trespass law should have been changed to "Hunt on foot only". or something along the lines of "anything fenced requires permission".

Anything fenced already requires permission under the current regulations, if all the gates are closed no signage is required.

Ive heard and read....not sure how much truth there is in this but RMs are wanting you to show some ID to see if you are from that RM or a city or town and have been nudging the farmers to deny any urban hunters entry on their land. The rural city divide is getting silly here in Sask after the Bushie case and farmers want payback.

I can't speak for any RM but my own, but council hasn't been talking about hunters at all. We are close to Saskatoon and the main concerns are theft, vandalism, and an almost nonexistent police presence. People truly are getting fed up, and it seems that a growing demographic feels like once they leave the city the whole world is theirs to explore and plunder. In our area it is mostly drug related...people needing a bit of cash for the next hit so the wiring gets torn out of buildings for the copper. Fuel is a constant hassle, with guys running around in stolen trucks filling chem totes wherever they can dip a hose. Extremely frustrating and expensive.

No, they hate lowlife's and thieves.

Pretty strong assumptions.

I grew up on a farm a few miles from Waywayseecapo, and the majority of landowners out that way were big time racist and did not like anyone from the city. You can even find a photo of the entire grade 12 class at the local High school all dressed as klansmen, these guys are all the farmers today.

Believe what you want......could care less.

Do you think this new law will discourage that behavior?

No. I am asking if you think the bushie incident would not have happened or if rural crime numbers would have been lower if this new law would have been in place before now.

I don't know, you don't know, nobody knows , but it shows where and why it is being pursued, what the "agenda" is with this change in laws.

It allows landowners to have a bit more recourse with people coming onto their land.

Well you certainly know what creates more divide.

So I was born in the city and grew up there most of my life.Guess I best steer clear of farmers and this makes us enemies, well done! :)

What farmer leaves his gates open when cattle are being pastured?

This covers your yard, your crops, your everything , if there is no physical barrier with current laws there is nothing that the RCMP can do with people wandering, if there is a physical barrier that was removed or crossed then the LEO's are able to take more action.

Cherry pick details all you want you simply want conflict with members on here.
