Sk trespass law being changed; just a heads up

White tail, moose, elk.

Fill your boots. Don't wait too long though the weekend is going to be crowded if the weather stays nice.

I don't hunt private land, seriously.

This thread shows one of the reasons I don't.

Not my land, private to me is private.

If I want to hunt it I either buy or hunt crown and on my wage I ain't buying squat. ;)

Doesn't affect me. I don't get butt hurt over someone accessing my land.

If I was concerned I would post it instead of whining to the government.

All you do is get butt hurt over everything. It’s your MO on gun nutz!

Didn’t you go whining to the government when your truck was stolen?

Once the new laws have passed you’ll be more than welcome to post your land, “Hunters welcome, permission not required”.

So calling the police when a crime has been committed is whining to government?

Tell me what other legal course of action I should have taken.

The RCMP is not going to do anything unless a trespasser is caught and reported. If you find anybody on your land fenced or not they must leave if told to.

Do you think the RCMP is going to start patrolling the countryside and stopping everyone they see to find out if they have permission to be there?

It will be up to the Conservation Officers and they do patrol the countryside and they will be able to check and enforce this law during hunting season or any other time.

Hunting season has been open here since sept 1st, have yet to see a CO.

Just because you have not seen them does not mean they have not been around. Now that they have been tasked with more policing duties maybe we will start to see more of them being hired. We are better off with more of them than RCMP in rural Sask.

I live a few miles from Gerry Stanley's place. There has been zero increase in patrols.

Private property means something, and when its not respected, the rights of the landowner needs to be protected by law. If a hunter is too lazy to search out the land owner and ask for permission to hunt on that land, he should hunt on crown land. Just because a property is uninhabited, doesn't make it public land. Seems like there'd be lots of hunting opportunities north of La Ronge.

Let's take that too the next step. No property owner should be deprived of the right to charge a fee for permission to hunt on their land. If a hunter can't afford to hunt private land their is crown land to hunt.

Like most good things, a few idiots ruin it for the rest of us. I have heard so many horror stories about hunters who shouldn't even own a gun, that I don't blame land owners for not wanting people on their land. I hunt on public land 100% of the time, next year I will ask permission for several areas I have been looking at the last few years. I would have anyway, it is a common courtesy I think.

I don't get the complexity of what people are turning this into.

1)Hunt on crown land.

2)If you want to hunt somewhere, do your due diligence and determine if private or crown - contact said land owner if you want access.

3)If #1 and #2 don't work for you, guy buy some land, there are always listings for land on the forest fringe and agricultural that are adequate hunting areas.
