Sk trespass law being changed; just a heads up

And yet you run to government to force people to give you respect.

That is absurd. Wow that is not even on the paper.

It's quite straightforward and simple. When a small number of people engage in their recreational activities without any respect to the land or the title holder this is what happens.

The law of the land has to be changed. Plain and simple.

If it matters skhunter, I do see your point ever so slightly. Gone are the days of that nice buck just 100yds into the stubble. Get out of the truck and take a crack at it. It isn't 1980's Saskatchewan land values or other values anymore.

It is "mine is mine" 2018. Fortunately though, I find most landowners give permission to hunt. Usually, if a landowner says no it's because they are after the same big game. I totally respect that.

It isn't difficult to knock on a door or make a phone call. The worse they can say is no.

I'm still left wondering do they throw the Snowmobile Act out now? What happens with that?

yes sask 378 well said

I decided to try hunting a new area tomorrow. I spent 20 minutes on the phone this morning and now have access to 40,000 acres of good whitetail farmland. How easy was that?

As an unintentional bonus I lined up some electrical work at one of the farms for next week.

Tell me how this is false.

There will never be a hunter criminally charged under the new trespass law, only trespassers and poachers will be criminally charged.

Hunters are ethical, law abiding citizens who respect other people’s property and gain access to such property. Why would they become criminals for that? Your assertion is absurd.

So just what I've been saying. This whole thing is about farmers "feeling" respected.

Tell me how this new law prevents vandalism or theft.

Tell me who is harmed by a guy shooting that buck on the stubble, picking it up and taking it home.

Ive heard and read....not sure how much truth there is in this but RMs are wanting you to show some ID to see if you are from that RM or a city or town and have been nudging the farmers to deny any urban hunters entry on their land. The rural city divide is getting silly here in Sask after the Bushie case and farmers want payback.

I know around home here most of the farmers are starting to post their land and only let locals hunt on it. This is in one of the only zones with a regular elk season so Sept 15th it turns into a gong ahow up here. You get all kinds of idiots from out of town around here chasing elk through fences and standing crops. The RM coukd be pushing farmers to limit access to locals also to prevent the spread of clubroot.

I think law has to do more with deterrence than prevention.

I don't think anyone is harmed. I don't think anyone's feelings are hurt either. Maybe the deer.

So any hunter who uses the land legally now without permission will not be charged if he does the same after the law is changed?

Deterring what. The guy that harmlessly shoots the buck and takes it home?

I mentioned a couple of days ago in this thread that this law is not about hunters.... The only hunters who will be affected are the ones who are too lazy to prepare properly and get the permission that they have been ethically required to obtain since forever. Good to see you are still slaving away at being hurt by this!

No...…..:confused:d:h::bangHead:f:P:

I would hope as do others that the proposed Trespassing law change may deter the people that are ignorant and disrespectful to others private property.

So like gun laws, we punish the respectful guys while those who don't respect the private property now.

Who do you think it will deter more?

Also could you define "disrespectful to others private property"

If not about hunters, who is it about?
