SKS, 100 yards

C'mon guys bubba them all to your heart content. They are meant to shoot not to collect dust. By the way, I was looking at those east wave scopes - how are they. Anybody has first hand experience? How is glass, if brass is hitting scope, clips if they still can be used with this scope. I do not have SKS yet so don't mind if my questions sound stupid.

With the side mounts you can take them on and off with a slide of the lever on the mount to load via stripper clip, supposed to return to zero.

Thanx for the link curtton. :)

get it from a canadian base company east wave , based in ontario, great to deal with , scope shipped from belarus and arrived in a week and a half.

scope (6x24) with attached side mount with rail $160 shipped.

Hey Guys, that's prety much what I'll want to do with my SKS (whenever it gets here): scope mount - no gunsmith if there's one that is worth it - i.e. won't jump off after a few rounds. Am I dreaming?

curtton, very nice set-up. Does it require a gunsmith to install?

no gunsmith required , all you need is a drill press and a set of taps, the receiver walls is thick enuff to tap and screw .

like calum said the scope comes off the rail with a turn of a lever and reset to the same position everytime you put it back on.

these scope are built like a tank and can handle a 7.62x54 round on dragunov semi sniper .

check out this dragunov site, my scope is on a romak PSL.

200 YARDS, IRON SIGHT, Chinese SKS.

That's two groups - I used 100 m setting on the first group then I found it's low. So I switched to 200 m. That's the reason why the total group looks so "Long".

You need to scope a SKS only when you plan to use it under low light. Iron sight is useless under low light. Other than that, iron sight on SKS is very easy to use.

I picked up an SKS scout scope mount from Marstar a while back. Put a cheapassed Tasco red dot sight on it. Works great. And when I feel like shooting irons, the rail can be removed, and the base is notched allowing you to use it as a rear sight. The only drawback is that you have to shift the front sight to adjust for windage and elevation...

I heard that you can't remove the gas tube after install that mount?

The website for Scout Scope Mount says you can. Looks like an interesting setup.
I bought my Norinco SKS years ago, as a cheap rifle to play with when they were still selling them with the 10 rd mag. It has since been converted to 5 rd. Had thought about using it as a bush gun too.

What can experimenting with cheap optics hurt. Might be fun!

hey curtton can you put up more pics of your sks with the scope on and off. I wanted to do the same but i did not know if the factory stock had to be modified.

SKS and scopes are a bad combo! unless its mount to a solid part of the gun. Get a Williams rear peep sight instead, then you will see a improvement.

sorry , don't mean to highjack this , but do the williams sights actually fit the norincos. Is there a thread on how to put them on ?
