No mark on cover means a letter series gun - 1955/56. There will be a funny looking "A", a backwards "N", or a "K" after the serial number on the receiver.

you are correct.... there is a backwards "N" at the end of the serial number and it has a little Star on the left side of the receiver next to the Serial number.
