I see that you've installed a barrel mount rail adapter for a red dot on your SKS's. How do they shoot with that rail adapter? Are the red dots Bushnell TRS-25's?
I've ordered the same mount adapter from Amazon.ca and I'm waiting to get it in the beginning of November.
That's interesting to know. Since the rifle is grouping well, I'm just going to leave it be as is, and enjoy the ok accuracy.

Honestly, I'm afraid of doing too much to my SKS. As it is now, I'm pretty happy with its accuracy.
I've added aperture sights, and soon I'll put in a spring loaded firing pin. The rifle doubled on me once last time at the range, and because I think a spring loaded pin can eliminate or reduce slam fires, I'm going for it.
Beyond that, I don't plan to do anything to it (except cleaning) unless something else goofs up.
And thanks for the tip. I know you're right, but as of now, it ain't broke. So I ain't fixing it.

Hi Neil - Just a thought -Have you taken out your bolt and thoroughly cleaned the firing pin channel? I got some pipe cleaners with wire bristles (specifically for this - amazon.ca for a few bucks), and with #9 and acetone (f-nail polish remover) I found lots of cr** still in there after just #9 on swabs. I've had a couple SKSes and never had a prob with dblfire. Maybe just lucky ^O^ ? I just got a Tapco 1951 Tula and with less than 50 rounds have got
under 2MOA at 100 leaning on a post. I've polished the sear and hammer, down to about 5 pounds and use a tight fore end hold to help control 'flip'. I'm 70 but have 'new' corneas so pretty good vision. I painted the front & rear sights with white 'appliance touch-up enamel' and touched the rear with Yellow Hi-liter. Makes them really visible. Lots of little things add up to lotsa help.

I field stripped the rifle and soaked the bolt assembly in brake cleaner. I didn't take the pin out to clean the channel, as the pin rattles freely.
I have to say though, crud in the channel is probably the culprit.
The firing pin is coming to me today - I'll make sure the channel is as clean as possible, before installing the new pin.

Vicar - Yes, there's no noticeable creep. Just a build up of pull, then breaks. I've looked at the hammer while firing the action in a vise. It does NOT 'pull back then go forward', just fires so I guess that's 'neutral sear'. Just a slight upward slope on the sear, but evidently not enough to get the 'fall back' motion. I've beat all over it outside of the stock with a hard plastic hammer and it won't 'accidently fire' and when in the stock (Tapco T-6) I can pound the bolt/receiver and drop onto the floor from about a foot or so with no Firing. I feel the sear is as safe as needed. only about 1/8" travel on the sear before release, fires about 5# or so -> polished with 600g w/d paper.
BTW - I'm waiting for a barrel mount from Amazing.ca

If it works and does not permanently alter the rifle, why not? Personally, I would mount a small laser scope there.
i think most on CGN would agree that its an unconventional and unproper way to mount an optic... not destructive to the gun. maybe to the optic over time haha. Its like JB welding something most would normally straight up weld. Will it work? Possibly, Will it last? Maybe, now does that mean its we should go around stating that its better then welding ???

As someone who removed the front site assembly complete and watch the groupings shrink to nearly half the size... I call bs.
That bayonet jars around so much when folded it destroys the consistancy of the barrel harmonics. Its why firing with it locked out generally net better groups.
And i can verify the groupings a i have real site and mount lol
