When I got my SKS (used factory 26) it had a real crappie finish and since I didn't care what it looked like I just took some poly and slapped it on. It has looked like shyt, and been fully functional and phenomenal in its reliability ever since. This weekend I decided to strip the old finish and when I got down to the wood it looked to cheap to even stain so I broke out the Krylon camo.

I think the results are awesome and I would recommend this paint job to anyone who would otherwise toss the Chicom wood. The other option was to get a T6 stock so what could I lose?

Also, anyone know who carries the T6?

If anyone wants to know how I got the pattern just PM or post and I'll give you my instructions. This was my first camo job so it's pretty much fool proof.:D

looks nice ... did you put a clear lacquer finish?

Yes, I used that clear paint available at Rona. Same thing that’s recommended to use over top of the USGI M14 stock.

I hope it holds up because it sure is pretty. I keep looking at it; I really can believe that I did such a darn good job on my first camo stock. - I felt sure I'd botch it.

I ordered mine last year on the web for 79.99, it turned out to be about 120.00 with exchange rate, and then post canada charged me 20.00, so it cost me 140.00, but worth every penny to me.
go to gunaccessories.com this year they have camo colours but they are more expensive about 140.00 without exchange and shipping.

There we go. Yep! I likes it Chicom Socom the one I have left is from fact 26, but it actually came with a nice cherry type stock so I will have to buy another one with a crappy stock I guess to try to do the same.

NICE JOB.
