Sks cleaning

If you have 99% Rubbing Alcohol (lower %-s usually have oils mixed in) that would be good. M-A is a different alcohol but they are both used in cleaning. M-A is generally NOT advised for dis-infecting because it is MORE Toxic. I have a link describing diffs. Varsol is a 'more highly refined' mineral spirit so less likely to leave 'stuff'. Either one, using Alcohol to 'rinse' will leave the stock and metal parts "cleaner". I just chose the 'cleaner' way to remove ALL the Cosmo. I feel it's better to start with a clean slate. Unless the spirits or Alc damage the finish on the stock you prob can just wax it. Easy does it . . . AND "WELL-VENTILATED" is a good idea whichever you use.

Maybe I’ll try some rubbing alcohol on it and see if that gets rid of the slightly sticky or off feeling it has

Well I hung the stock by the wood stove for a few days the heat got a bunch of oil out and gave it a cleaning and wiped with alcohol, seems much better now :)
