played around in the shop today, rough prototype, should have it complete this week, used maple wood

Whoa!!

For "rough" it looks pretty good.

I like the layout and flow of the "lines".1

Waiting for the finished product.

I used a solid chunk of maple wood, i have a CNC FADAL machining center at my home shop, i have 30in-16in travel. This is just a prototype, can change anything i want, plan on making a dragonov style one next.

i will be doing the inletting tommorow, and yes my machine will be doing that also. I usualy cut aluminum but wood is cool, my shop smelled so nice!

I have a sks-d, so it was just a mater of ripping it apart and taking measurements, not familiar with the svt, i would have to get my hands on one

We really need some kind of wood / carpenter forum. There are a few guys here who are great wood workers. This reminds me of Bob's thread on his stock making.

Great job, looking forward to the finished product.

are you thinking about producing it in big quantities?
i'm sure that the canadian market with all the SKS floating around could absorb a pretty big number

You have good taste!

I think your stock looks great and I know you did a lot of research as well saw you reply to the thread on thumbhole stock.

I really like the pics on post#3 but remember the poster said its not comfortable to shoot so I think the ###iest stock will be this one:

And yours looks pretty much the same:

Please post process on your work since I am really interested in your work!

Forgot to ask: Will you be using iron sight or scope? If you prepare to add scope you might want to consider a higher comb or add a cheek rest.

Cheers:rockOn:
