Just a heads up on the chinese sks firing pin. I hope mine is the only one, but it seems the firing pin lacks some tempering.
After about the 160th round out the tube, had a miss fire, cranked and fired a few more rounds then action wouldnt fully close... WTF?.. The firing pin got blown right out of the bolt, fixed it in the field and it hapened again.

Turns out the firing pin at the very front became square shouldered( low tempering) and actually poked a round hole in the primer, consequently forcing the small round piece of primer metal back into the bolt and with gas pressure, blowing out the firing pin. Its hard to believe the retaining pin, for the firing pin, did not hold it back?.

I rounded out the contact point of the pin and reassembled the rifle... just havent shot it yet to confirm its ok.

I would think, trade it in on a cat and shoot the cat...

You may have just put anti-depressant med companys out of business :p I would either send the rifle back to where you bought it, or buy a new firing pin. If it wasnt heat treated properly in the first place, then it will just keep happening.

Good advice... but I'll just fix it and deal with it. Im thinking boat anchor or something if it happens again?..;)

try pening the retainer. When you do this it should raise the surface enough to stop it from falling out but still I would be contacting Lever Arms, Marstar or even SKSMAN for a replacement.

Sorry Nick, did not mean to be that hard on you...I hear they are a lot like a ruger...

No probs there GT,... They are a lot like a Ruger, only Ruger is more accurate, if that means anything to a target shooter?..:D

Seeing that the action on the sks is totaly enclosed, the firing pin blowing out is not really a danger to anyone, just a nuicance.

I am curiouse to know if this has happened to other chinese sks owners... and what was the cure?.

Lefty; I've put a crate of ammo through mine{marstars chi-com} with no issues aside from a few stovepipes when it was new {1st 100rds maybe 2-3times} the firing pin looks the same as when I first took it apart to get the cosmo out of it. Perhaps you are merely the unfortunate victim of Chinese QC? ie. bad batch of pins from a metallurgical stand point.

Yeah judging by the general condition of the Factory 625 that I got from Marstar Id say this factory didnt turn out the nicest SKS's for the Chinese Military. 7mmlefty I still suggest getting a new firing pin as piercing primers is no joke, and if the pin is deforming there is a chance it could stick and slamfire or fire out of battery. Next time might not be so lucky, you know what I mean? The 7.62x39 cartridge is rated to a little over 51,000 psi, pressure does scary things when its closed in.

Thanks Supernova... I am listening, and will get a new firing pin.
The firing pin in there now has been rolled a few thousanths of an inch due to being pushed under the retainer pin and has no play and doesnt move freely anymore.
If things dont work out with it, I have a nice spot at the bottom of a lake picked out for it.:D
