pringles... I'll do you a favour...
buy this one. $300 and sell yours for $250.
For an extra $50, you get:
Comes with the tactical stock and a new Williams rear sight
Comes with the original (and nice!) laminate stock and rear sight
The metal is arsenal parkerized, which is a preferred finish for a working gun
And, you don't have to do anything else.
Tasteful bubba job complete (except I would rattle can black the handguard).

I got 4 izzies and a lightly ref 52 Tula for $150 +tax last year when a local CTC stopped selling SKS and put them on clearance, they even let me pick through them,, kicking myself for not buying more! The izzies were refurb and had parkerized metal, very tight though, I guess that's part of the reason it is accurate!Lucky neighbour! If you have anymore 54 izzy's you want to unload for $175 I'll give you my number! Lol

If you have non matching numbers and EP anywhere on the outside of the gun but the gas tube, it's a refurb. Also, look for a stamped square with a diagonal line or diamond with a "T" in the middle of it. Either of those indicate refurb as well.
A lot of non refurbs have non matching mags as they screwed up or just didnt care when they took the sks apart to put the mark of putin on them!If you have non matching numbers and EP anywhere on the outside of the gun but the gas tube, it's a refurb. Export/import marking.
Do what ever you want, it's yours be your own man and decide for your self and not take advice from a bunch of anonymous keyboard jockeys. Just remember they made millions of these rifles it's not a collector item. Cut the sh!t out of it and make it your own.
They did electro pencil the butt plates for a while on the non refurb ones as well. I had a couple non refurbished letter guns that had the serial on the buttplate. And what about the rear sight leaf. That is normal to be electropenciled.
