Why not make both? Tooling isn't capable of machining both?

i think the cost is too high for me to ever want to consider that. I wasn't away that it was a problem for some?
i guess in the winter if you are wearing gloves it could be an issue?
Just make it out of aluminum. It's in such a sheltered area of the rifle, it won't break or get messed up. Does anyone really wanna pay $50 for a little tiny piece of steal? I wouldn't...
If it's aluminum, does that mean it won't be black?
Aluminum would be anodized black as well.
That being said I have decided to go with steel on this run given the fact that the lip of the magazine impacts the magazine latch with some force ... the steel gives one the impression of indestructibility, LOL.
Why not make both?
Because you tie up money in inventory which is essentially the same thing.
Also I get a lower unit cost when I make a larger order of the same item.
Lastly, after playing with both prototypes I am personally convinced that the steel is superior.
