I favour the steel part also. $39.95 is fine for that. For what it does, the aluminum would likely be fine, like you say but the steel just seems like a better idea. I'll buy a steel one. I'm in the lower mainland. We can meet up at a range and I'll buy one.

Ok I have a little news ...
Was in the machine shop making a few changes. The final design will include a chamfer along the front edges of the release as I noticed it was a bit sharp to the touch ... too much texture, I guess, LOL.
We also worked on a feature to allow the latch to be adjustable according to what the user wants or what the particular rifle requires according to its variation from spec. We tested the latch on a stock rifle and with a tapco stock with a removable magazine. The tapco magazine was particularly nice to use with the release, and because of the shape of the catch was vey easy to insert past the release.
