I am full of great ideas ain't I?
I have a project SKS on the way. It will most likely be nothing anyone has seen before as it's a "what if" design other than "practical". I am in the process of designing a custom flush mounted PU scope base; thumb screw will be placed at 90 degrees instead of 45 via pivot armature. Been quoted a good price for machining (you got to love small town Sask) further updates when complete. I am also doing some custom stock work; re-profiling the grip, adding a detachable cheek weld (strap, screw, or dowel). I will also be adding a steel wedge to the front of the stock that connects to the barrel band. The threaded end of the barrel with be secured by a clamp under the sight base which will also tie into the cross bolt. (design in not finalized, as it might be deemed unnecessary) The rear of the receiver will be screwed to the stock via the trigger group spring hole.
After all this, I want to install a muzzle brake. But, then the bayonet is useless and will have to be removed. So I fathomed the idea to modify the lug to attach a SVT-40 bayonet. Don't as why, but in my mind it makes sense. I understand that a customized flash hider will have to be used to get the appropriate length. The problem is, I do not have a SVT-40, nor a SVT-40 bayonet. So, who does? alongside a SKS. Will it work?
