SKS or Garand

It's an intensely silly sort of question, OP

Maybe you should ask how many would buy an SKS for $1300+ vs how many would take a $200 M1

You said the same price but you didn't specify which price.

How is this even a question? One was used as a front line battle rifle for almost three decades and the other deemed obsolete 4 years after it was developed.

If price was the same and you could buy 1 which one? I would buy the SKS. I bet if the SKS was hard to find and there were lots of Garands. Everybody would be going on and on about the SKS.

Garand in a heart beat. It's a piece of Canadian history with John Garand being born in QC. I have both now, and would never trade or sell my Garand. There is just something about a full power rifle.

Garand have a sentimental value for born Canadians. This sentimental value is reflected in crazy price for Garand.

Partly also is the relative scarcity.

More than a few people collect the SKS by the crateload - the supply seems endless.

Right now I've an M1 in .308 and 30-06 and a singular 1951 SKS refurb in a nice laminated stock. I think I'm done for both platforms :)

They used to be pretty close in price. Within $50 or so. I bought both. I don't know why Garand prices went through the roof? Band of Brothers maybe? :)
