SKS Prototype stock (update 02-02-2014) post 244

price depend always of what material , machining time or mold and quantity

that why i'm redesigning my original design to simplify and reduce every possible cost

i was looking to modify my handguard to accommodate a easier machining and i find a really easy ways to ameliorate my prototype , i gonna work this week-end on it and maybe re-ask for some quotes with the last mod my design is more 3d printer friendly so it should use less support material so take less time and cheaper at the end i'm still working with a gunnutz here but we got some serious issue with is printer

if price is under 500 i probably pay i got one , at least to test and see if i can ameliorate the cheaper place for the full rail one was 750$ in strong ABS , the version i probably try first will be one with a shorten hand guard

this one

but before that im gonna have to modifies how the lower hold the upper in the buffer area , i will probably try to use an ar15 pin for that ,

Maybe instead of having all those rails could you do a key mod style set up? It would be lighter, cheaper to maybe?

all rail are screwed on it , you can remove it all , nothing is permanently there , not every one want full rails , same for the flat top if you want you will be able to only put a small rail in the rear and in the front , or only for a scope , in theories you can customize it like you want

the time i take ot work on it today had finally done something great , no fancy button on the side now replace that by an ar15 rear takedown pin , the buffer tube is screwed in a block who is bolted on the lower , this block will permit to create new block that will bolt on it for new design of stock , and reduce some machining ,

to remove the upper simply pop out the takedown pin , lift the upper and pull it in the back and now you have access to the sks for cleaning

what hold the front of the handguard

It looks good, cant wait to see a prototype. Hopefully they don't turn out to heavy

will probably have one model with a mid length handgaurd and one with a long one

one things i never speak about the barrel of the sks in that stock will be free float or at leat should be with my design

Nice gun "shell", it looks good without all the rails. Kinda had that Lego block look before. Anyways there is definitely a market for your project. You should get together with the "ar mag in sks "guy, and plan for pmags. I just wanted to say that it is interesting to watch you problem solve this project into production.

About all I can say after reading this thread front to back is,
"Dat chassis!"
I've been debating getting a second SKS for something like this for a while now, will probably search for one with a gas tube pin that isn't a cast iron pain to remove.

Latest version seems very nicely laid out.

Personally I'm not a fan of having too many extras on the SKS; for me it's a working rifle, and simple, reliable and relatively light are what matter.

well i have a 3dprinter now , as soon i can run it , i will make one and test , but the Ak stock will be first on the list because it more simple to make
