SKS Prototype stock (update 02-02-2014) post 244

just to say that topic is not dead ... just re-thinking how i can made it more simple , i might have found the solution a mix of machined part with some metal sheet part . still focused on my other work in progress .

IMO, if this were made around the mag wedge/hi cal/Marcus whatever it's called AR mag adapter it would be a winner. Wouldn't even bother making it around the original hinged duckbill style mags. Anyone buying this design will want to make it "AR like" so no point in designing it any other way. One of these with magpul furniture, 10rd xcr mags (with 3D printed extensions) and all the crap chopped off the front of the barrel and fake can in its place would look simply awesome, and would be a hoot to shoot!

As stated in my post, and I'm sure many others would agree with me, the saber tooth is grossly overpriced for just another conventional sks stock. To modify a $400 stock and start cutting it up to fit the ar adapter would be scary and just a bad idea, and it would look like garbage as well. I believe they shot themselves in the foot with the saber tooth stock.

Dad, if you were to make a stock with the adapter integrated right into the machining of your design, but with a right side mag release similar to the ar, it wouldn't be ripping off anybody, it would be genious, and make your chassis accept ar furniture and keymod forend (easier to machine than picatinny, and lighter), you'd be rich, even if it costs $600, put a $200 sks into it that just needs the milling done (DIY by the customer), you'd pretty much have a 7.62x39 xcr (no ability to change caliber of course)when you were done, all for under $1000.
