SKS Rubber Buttpad

I have the UTG extension pad on mine, it will slide over the existing but plate and fit tightly or you can remove the plate and screw it on.
To me it looks like it belongs on the rifle and is available in two lengths the one i have is the 1" extension

I have also heard the sims medium slip on pad works but i have one and can say it does not fit on the russian stock and is too mushy for it.
The UTG was very reasonably priced, I got mine for $20 in London.

I use one. Has nothing to do with recoil and everything to do with having the rifle fit taller people better. But clearly you guys are "too tough" to have your rifle fit properly.
 
I can see why some might want a longer LOP, but I like to razz people whenever possible. I am also a big fan of leaving stuff , especially milsurps, as original as possible.

With an SKS the recoil isn't the issue, it's that the stocks are cut WAY too short for most people. They were designed to be used with 4 or 5 layers of clothes in the cold russian winter by small malnourished peasants. The buttpad is just for the 1" extension to make the stock fit modern, well fed, normal sized people
 
I'm 6'2". I have sks's and cz858 with folder. Everyone complains about the short LOP. Try squaring up your stance more combat style. These are combat rifles. If your shoulders are square to the rifle the LOP will be better or just right. When I first got my cz858 my nose was touching back of receiver. I was a little nervous about shooting it. Lol. I did some looking for buttpads and after some research discovered it was my stance. Once I corrected that no pad was necessary LOP was perfect and my accuracy improved especially when shooting quick follow up shots. Give it a try! its hard for some people to change out of that shotgunners stance. Hope this helps. If not put a maxi-pad on it. Lmao

My bro has the UTG one on his. Perfect fit for him and looks good.ebay for Under 20$ shipped if you're lucky.
 
Its my little secret, bicycle inner tube the type for mountain bikes. You cut it to length and stretch it over. I use it for all my pistols too.

I also use the combat/shgun stance but find the contoured rubber butt makes for a much more consistent hold with a little more length
After having the SKS for a little while while now i agree with leaving it as it is which is why i like the UTG its slips on.

Go figure this butt pad is under $10 in the US and $28 here. I won't blame the retailer, as I am not sure of their purchase price, but as with everything else we pay a huge premium. I am getting very sick of this. I am 6'3" and have fairly long arms. I would like a good fitting butt pad, and would like to buy Canadian, but I guess I will order from the US, as so may times in the past.
